Terry Kelly is leaving for college, and Ma Kelly and Uncle Pat invite his friends and sweetheart Kitty to the house for a going-away party. The bigger surprise is Uncle Pat's gift of $1400 for Terry's tuition, money he earned promoting Terry as an amateur boxer. Accompanying Terry and Kitty's school friends to the party is Diggins, Terry's rival for Kitty's affections. After an argument, Diggins takes off... with the envelope containing Pat's gift. The kids track Diggins down at Regan's Road House, and a brawl breaks out.

A Bevy of Beauties and a Boatload of Fun

Gangsters use a woman to get to a boxer and convince him to throw a big fight.

Eino, a Karelian soldier wounded in the Winter War, cannot settle into his new home in Häme. He becomes embittered by the poor treatment of evacuees and loses his will to live. Annikki, a hard-working Karelian teacher, helps Eino regain his faith in the future.

Vinski inherits a general store in Ihantala from his aunt, which he starts running with his friend Lapatossu. The friends face fierce competition from the greedy merchant Juhos. The resourceful Lapatossu solves the problems of the villagers and evacuees in between business transactions.

A brutal businessman, Vilhelm Gerner, triggers a stock speculation by providing false information. Two of his partners, Smith and Grå, get ruined and therefore Smith commit suicide. Later, Gerner is found shot by his own gun. The police suspects at least seven persons. Most of them admits murdering Gerner. A reconstruction is staged in the presence of all the suspects.

The main character of the funny story is an ordinary typist Julinka Svobodová, who works for the established business firm Hrubý a syn and lives in a sublet with the seamstress Mrs. Pokorná. Although she is poor and sometimes manages to be late, she is still cheerful and pleasant. However, a small coincidence is enough and everything changes. That is when she takes an elevator ride with the Minister of Trade, Dr. Horák, who coincidentally lives in the same building. Mrs. Pokorná, in good faith, hints to the inquisitive landlady that Julinka is the Minister's girlfriend. From the talkative woman, an innocent rumor spreads like wildfire and, surprisingly, it helps the girl in every way...

The two friends, Fy and Bi, come wandering along the country road as so many times before without a destination and - without food. Hunger torments them, and they stop with wide eyes at a bakery truck, whose back door is open and opens the view to sumptuous trays of pastries and mayor's bars. However, they get a long nose and wander on to an old castle, where they seek accommodation for the night. In the castle cellar they open a book - and immediately they are back in the exciting events and deadly battles of the 15th century. And again we are back in the castle cellar, where Fy now with a bang closes the dusty, old book, and the two set out on the country road again.

A young woman works for two different men, both of whom fall in love with her. In the mornings she is secretary for a popular author and in the afternoons for a singer. Which of them will she settle for?

Mr. Smith Goes Ghost

Britain's check to the German drive for world domination. The Ministry of Information requested that the film should be withdrawn as it was considered too direct propaganda, and that overseas audiences would have trouble following it. However, it had already been shipped across the colonies and ended up being one of the most popular of the British Council's films - both in the UK and overseas.

A sadistic big game hunter, Hyde Skinner (a self-described Fur Trapper And All Around Dirty Guy), uses a poor little turtle as a pack mule. He does his best to kill any animal he can for the sport of it, for furs, etc. Skinner is out to trap an egotistical lion, who struts along with scat-like banter. Hyde Skinner sets a trap for the lion, and corners him in a cave. He tries to force him out with a lit stick of dynamite, which the lion pushes back at Skinner. Skinner backs up, stepping into his own trap with the fuse on the dynamite burning. He grabs the turtle, and writes a message for help on his chest, then begs the turtle to hurry. The poor turtle does his best to run, but in slow motion, as the dynamite fuse continues to burn down. While still running along, the dynamite explodes off camera, and the turtle stands up and wipes the message off his chest.

While outside in a hotel garden at night, Miss Tang runs into a vampire. Mr. Li tries to find out if it's real or not. It may have something to do with the hotel grounds being a former gold mine. After its theatrical release, this has yet to be released again in any format anywhere. It's believed to be the first film ever to contain the jiangshi, or hopping vampire.

Motel, a poor laborer, loving husband and new father, leads cloakmakers in a strike for better working conditions. When he is severely injured by strikebreakers, his wife, Esther, and infant son are left destitute. Desperate to save her starving child, Esther gives him up for adoption to a wealthy couple, and then commits suicide. The richly-rendered beautiful Yiddish songs by Sholem Secunda featuring Cantor Leibele Waldman and Joel Feig's famous choir are a good example of the bittersweet melodrama in the finest tradition of the Yiddish theater.

A shy man invents in front of his friends a love affair with a singer but circumstances will lead him to conquer her.

dr. Benedek Gábor, a famous solicitor in Eger, is the defense counsel of a murderer, who killed his wife out of jealousy. Gábor lives in a happy marriage with Anna. One day, however, Szentgyörgyi Péter, a famous pianist, comes to Eger. He once was loved by Anna, who in those days was training to become an artist herself. Gábor has no knowledge of these events of the past. He, therefore, associates the now renewed relationship with the story of the murderer he is the legal representative of.

The greengrocer Ferdinand Strubel wants his daughter Marianne to marry the son of the brewery owner Baron von Schnackenberg. Since Strubel is an impossibly cheap bastard, the marriage is to take place on 20 May, which, coincidentally, is the same day the city is having a grand festival for him to celebrate his company's being in business for 100 years. Marianne, however, has fallen in love with Leopold, a gym teacher; and when he reads an article in the newspaper about the upcoming arrival of Haley's Comet on 19 May, he comes up with an idea how he can prevent the wedding from taking place: He tells Strubel that the world is going to come to an end when the comet shows up, so that Strubel will see the errors of his way, cancel the arranged wedding and will become a better person for it. (Sucker!).

Anna, a rich lady, decides to finance in great secrecy a singular enterprise: the founding of a real center for the creation of ideas, directed by Mario Morelli, a poet and songwriter perpetually waiting for great success, and a painter, Enrico Bovio, who cannot find the inspiration or the model for a portrait of a woman he wants to finish. Both are short of money and, convinced of the brilliance of their ideas, wish to open that bizarre business, called precisely the "Bazaar of Ideas".

Commissioned by the Ministry of Information and specifically target working class audiences; ‘Now you’re talking’ follows a plant worker, who lets slip vital information about some overnight research on a captured enemy aircraft. This inevitably leads to this most important of secrets falling into the lap of the enemy.

It's midnight in a graveyard. The principal characters are spooks, ghosts, bats, bells, and, at the end, the sun. As midnight strikes, 12 spooks appear, then two ghosts. They move to the music's rhythm. Against the black night, they are blue and yellow. Bats appear as does a xylophone of bones. Mist rises, spooks swirl. A bell tolls. The sky turns light blue, the ghosts' dance slows. Then black night returns bringing intimations of frenzy. Bones play snare drums; spooks peek out of square graves. Scary faces appear. Frenetic movement takes over. A rooster crows and all return to earth as the sun's light appears.

Laxmi, an "untouchable" woman fights for her community's rights against societal discrimination. She faces personal hardship and resistance from authorities, ultimately leading a movement for equality and temple access, while advocating for deeper societal change.
