Aka King of the Gypsies

In the 1920s Horacio Coppola studied modern languages, photography and film, set up the first cinema club in Buenos Aires, and travelled to Italy, France, Spain and Germany, where he trained with the Bauhaus photographer Walter Peterhans. After visiting Vienna, Budapest and Prague, still hotbeds of secessionist art, Coppola returned to Berlin and made the experimental film Traum (Dream, 1933) with the theatre director Walter Auerbach, a nice short influenced by the French & German surrealists.

The Little Saleswoman (1933) is a musical short comedy directed by Georg Malmstén, commissioned by Havin Osakeyhtiö and advertising the company's products. Laundry day is coming up for the Keinänen family. Kalle (Kaarlo Angerkoski), a music student living as a subtenant in the family, stops by the herbalist's shop and falls head over heels in love with the beautiful saleswoman (Martta Kontula). Only a 17-minute excerpt of the film has survived.

Divorce barrister Logan arrives back in London from a trip overseas to find the whole city fogbound. Unable to reach his flat, he books into the exclusive Royal Parks Hotel. Leslie sweet-talks Logan into letting her stay in his suite, and although the pair are attracted to each other, the night passes innocently. On arriving at Chambers, Logan is asked to act as counsel for Lord Rockburn, who is seeking a divorce from his wife. Logan accepts the brief, but then discovers to his horror that Lady Rockburn was a guest at the Royal Parks Hotel ball the previous night, and a cornerstone of the case is alleged impropriety after a maid observed a man leaving her room that morning......

In a sham ceremony at the city hall, the dimwitted Fridolf is married to Margit. It doesn't take long, however, before he is arrested for bigamy. His first wife left him a few years ago, but Fridolf isn't very bright and he thought that she was dead when she wrote a letter to him saying that. She ran off to join a circus. By a coincidence, the circus is visiting Fridolf's home town and Fridolf goes to the circus with a free ticket. But at the circus all he can do is make a fool of himself.

This 1933 documentary delves into the rich waters of the Rhone. Around Lyon, fishing is already rented and poisoned by industrial waste. Fishermen are forced to poaching at night. They are nicknamed the "Pirates of the Rhone."

Dot Farley is throwing a benefit for cats but hasn't any. This means she calls up her husband, Edmund Breese, to bring some. He being busy with business deputes the job to Franklin Pangborn. Pangborn gets office boy Ray Cooke, and in no time at all, Breese has fleas.

That's a Good Girl is a 1933 British comedy film directed by Jack Buchanan and starring Buchanan, Elsie Randolph and Dorothy Hyson. The film was based on a musical show of the same title that opened at the Lewisham Hippodrome on 19 March 1928, in which Jack Buchanan also starred. The music was written by Joseph Meyer and Phil Charig, with lyrics by Douglas Furber. The film omitted much of music of the original show, but popularised one song in particular, Fancy our Meeting. The song remained a Jack Buchanan favourite and a version of it was also recorded by Al Bowlly shortly after the film's release.

The film is a documentary portraying a struggle as man tries to subdue nature. To prevent flooding and for purposes of land reclamation, the people of the Netherlands struggle and succeed in building a breaker, thereby eliminating the wild inland body of water once known as the Zuider Zee (now called Ijsselmeer).

¡Tango! follows a formula established by Carlos Gardel with films such as Luces de Buenos Aires (The Lights of Buenos Aires, 1931) in which a melodramatic story is interspersed with tango songs. However, the film had less dialog and more music, making it more like a musical revue. This format would be copied by many subsequent films. The plot is derived from tango songs. Many of these songs tell of the seduction of an innocent slum girl by a rich man who promises her a glamorous life, but who abandons her when her looks fade. The stylized and sentimental plot of ¡Tango! revolves around a young man who is abandoned by his girlfriend for an older rich man and is heartbroken. The film follows his misfortunes.

Alternate French version of the Italian film T'Amero Sempre: Coming to Paris after an unhappy youth, a lonely woman has a love affair but when she is pregnant the man abandons her and she finds work in a beauty salon. Will she be able to find a new happiness?

The maid of a doctor, he had some canvases he didn't care for bestowed on him once by an unknown artist, thankfully has saved them as the paintings are now worth some money and others want them.

In love with his cousin, the gentle Émeline, a country gentleman, unaware of matters of love, decides to go to Paris, in order to lose his candor. She will prefer to avoid this hazardous and problematic move.

Misunderstandings occur when her devotional poetry is thought to be love songs for someone. Several hardships are inflicted on her by her husband and her in-laws. She takes to sitting in the temple and singing bhajans (sacred songs) composed by her. Her brother-in-law tries to have her killed many times, but fails. She finally renounces her life in the palace and wanders from place to place singing devotional songs.

A filmmaker is brought back to life in the year 2032, after he was killed by a bomb in 1942. He sets out for a journey to Mars - as the space ship suddenly changes its course.

An overdose of gas at the dentist's office causes Willie to float like a balloon. He floats out of the office, through the stratosphere, and into outer space. There, he meets an alien scientist who has created a ray gun that will immediately process pigs and cows into cuts of meat...

Nappe and Johan are two friends who gets cheated by the trickster Johnny.

In one of the villages, opponents of the Soviet regime - the bai, the mullah and the disguised enemy - the chairman of the collective farm - decide to use the Muslim holiday of Ramadan in order to disrupt work in the cotton fields of the collective farm, and some farmers succumb to the mullah's agitation - they hold fast and cannot work in the field. The individual farmer Timur, the farm laborer, faithfully follows the laws of Ramadan. Timur is an honest and religious person, a hardworking worker who manages both for himself and manages to work both in the mosque and at the bai, dreams of making a pilgrimage to Mecca.

Opens on the team’s arrival in India and shows landmarks, then shots of the preparations in Darjeeling. Includes blessing ceremonies by the Buddhist Lama at Darjeeling and the Chief Lama at Rongbuk. Scenes of all six camps being established and the journey back to Darjeeling, when it became clear summiting would be impossible this time.

The story of balladistic intonation takes place at Lake Balaton, in a fisher village. The love of Kovács Mária and Szabó Mihály is hopeless due to a long animosity between their families. Mária is married by her father to his adopted son Kovács Jani. The unhappy young woman is unable to hide her love for Mihály and therefore her angry father sentences her with the traditionally suitable penalty of unfaithful women, she is put on the stormy waters of Balaton in a boat without oars or scull.

A pseudo-documentary, “Samarang” tells the story of lowly Ahmang (Captain A.V. Cockle) and his socially superior love, Sai-Yu (Theresa Seth). Both live in the village of Samarang in the Indian Ocean. Because Sai-Yu is the daughter of a chief and Ahmang is but a poor fisherman, he needs to increase his wealth before asking for her hand. Thus he accepts the perilous offer of the wily Chang-Fu, who seeks pearl divers. Ahmang must brave the treacherous waters of the Forbidden Lagoon of Sakai, home to bloodthirsty cannibals, killer sharks, and a monstrous grasping octopus. Sai-Yu and Ahmang’s younger brother Ko-Hai come along for kicks, too. Ahmang finds his pearl, but he and Sai-Yu are stranded on the island, where they befriend a local orangutan. When they return to the boat, a shark kills Ko-Hai, and Ahmang must get revenge.

A great provincial lawyer is found murdered with a revolver shot in the red path that leads to his mistress's home. The Advocate General accuses his own wife who was a betrayed mistress and whom he assumes guilty out of spite. But the accused's daughter finds the real culprit.

The daughter of the austere professor Smithson, during a walk on skis, loses her balance, revealing her underwear. An indiscreet photographed the scene. Smithson demands that his daughter marry this man, but who is he? He luckily turns out to be the young man she loves.

Describe the harsh reality attempts of establishing a Jewish settlement in Israel and the efforts of the Arab to prevent it. The film is considered as the first talking film in Palestine Israel.

Scrapy's birthday party is attended by a raft caricatures of famous movie stars and world leaders, including Mussolini, John D. Rockefeller, Will Rogers, Laurel & Hardy, George Bernard Shaw, Jimmy Durante, King George V,Ghandi, Babe Ruth, Ex-King Alphonso XII, Professor Picard and even Al Capone is seen, unfortunately unable to make it as he's in prison.

Shot by Methodist missionaries, this is an incredibly charming record of small-town life in an unidentified location in China. We see a bustling wharf town with canal-side dwellings, distinctive school buildings, and a hospital where newly graduated nurses pose for a group portrait. The relaxed smiles of Chinese and Europeans are captured in intimate close-ups, suggesting a tight-knit community.

On a stormy, windy night, Krazy's car breaks down so he and Kitty must seek refuge in an eerie old house. Happy the pup finds a skeleton, but the really scary resident is a huge, violent gorilla that runs off with Kitty, and Krazy must rescue her.

Impresario Adler is imprisoned for insulting an official and therefore unable to negotiate an important concert tour with opera singer Lauri Volpi. In his place, he convinces Friedel, a pretty music student, to travel to Venice to meet the famous tenor. In her travels, Friedel sends postcards written by Adler to his wife to prevent her from knowing his real whereabouts. When Friedel meets Volpi’s attorney, she mistakes him for the singer, and they spend days together in a romantic, picturesque Italy without him revealing his true identity. After his release from prison, Adler realizes two things: firstly, Friedel has been negotiating with the wrong man, and secondly, his wife has discovered the trick with the postcards, traveled to Italy, and started a storm of her own. But when the storm has cleared and the confusions are clarified, nothing holds them back from a happy ending.

The film is set in Mexico. General Pancho is some sort of despot...sort of a Pancho Villa-type. When he arrives in town, some folks are scared...but a local vixen is excited as she thinks violent thugs are hot. Soon after Pancho arrives and shoots a man in the butt for no apparent reason, two singers/dancers, Dolittle and Rosebud, arrive. Rosebud is a hot woman...and General Pancho spends the rest of the time trying to woo her as Dolittle woos the vixen.

Princess Savitri marries Prince Satyavan despite a curse that foretells his death within a year.

The mysterious vigilante Milton has warned Scotland-Yard of his intention to kill the lawyer Maurice Meister who is the cause of his sister's suicide. Police and detectives watch over the lawyer's home, but on the day and at the appointed time Meister is murdered.
