Of this silent movie, a digital reconstitution was made in 2006, from the original drawings, accompanied by an improvised piano score by maestro António Victorino d'Almeida.

At the film’s conclusion, as the two friends rest on the sidewalk absorbing their long-overdue meal, they are arrested by a policeman.

The farmer that he helps leaves for the front after entrusting his fiancée and his estate to his care. The young woman loves the writer but does not yield to his desire. When the young peasant comes back, he is disabled but he finds his sweetheart untarnished and his land flourishing. His mission accomplished, the novelist can go back to town.
