Sunday at spa. Husband Štovíček is observing what's going on. Mr Štovíček would like to have fun at the swimming pool, but can not because his wife wants to go on a trip with a friend of hers.

Georgina asks permission from her old aunt, Patricia Mercer Vanderpyl, to marry Capt. Nugent before his departure for France. Patricia refuses and, in reply to Georgina's questioning, gives her a diary from her own girlhood to read. The diary unfolds the story of Patricia's marriage to soldier Anthony Vanderpyl. Returning on furlough after the outbreak of the Civil War, Anthony suddenly leaves Patricia to visit Mrs. Le Roy, an old flame, and is killed by her jealous husband. Positive that Anthony had been unfaithful to her, Patricia refuses to open the letter that her husband sent her on the day of his death. Georgina now opens it and discovers that Anthony had gone to Mrs. Le Roy to end the affair that his brother Bentley was having with her. With this revelation, Patricia sanctions her niece's marriage, then dies, joining Anthony in "the spreading dawn".

After their wedding, Richard Vaughan and his wife Courtney take up residence in Richard's ancestral home. Courtney, despised by Nanny, the old housekeeper, and neglected by her husband, who buries himself in his chemical experiments, leads a lonely life. Consequently, when experimental chemist Basil Gallatin pays a lengthy visit to the Vaughan home, Courtney finds herself attracted to him. One day, during Richard's absence, a burglar alarm places Courtney and Gallatin in a compromising situation.

When, after three years of active service, ace detective Jerry Brennon is ordered by his doctor to take a rest, Senator Reed, Jerry's staunch supporter since he arrested two crooks burglarizing the Reed home, prevails upon the detective to stay at his cabin in the mountains. Warned that the cabin is haunted, Jerry's suspicion is aroused when a bullet whizzes past his head.

In 1907, the Russian authorities learn that a revolutionary known as 'Granddad' is living in hiding with his brother. The revolutionary is soon arrested and sent to Siberia. After ten years of struggling to survive in harsh conditions, he is finally released when the Tsarist government is overthrown in February 1917. He is welcomed home as a hero, but he soon finds that even his own son has different views than he does about the future of Russia.

I. Noah Heap, after giving a number of the race track patrons some poor tips, is chased by the copper, Welland Strong, who is ever on his trail. Noah's attempts to panhandle the crowd are also thwarted by the ever watchful Strong, who seizes and throws him bodily into the street. Noah wanders into a Chinese laundry and induces the owners to give him a smoke. He plants himself in the old man's bunk and after a couple of drags at the pipe he is off for a wonderful dream.

In order to get his daughter away from her suitors, her father decides to spirit her away to Bermuda. Our hero, however, stows away on the ship. When discovered, he is credited with catching a crook, thus winning a reward and the girl.

The itinerant Jewish country peddler Abraham Jacobs saves his pennies until he can afford to open a small second-hand clothing store. Unfortunately, Abraham's son Sonny has not inherited his father's decent, hardworking instincts so when his mistress, Mrs. Morgan, needs money Sammy robs Abraham's safe and then disappears. Time passes, and oil is discovered on a tract of land left to Abraham by his late wife. Although he can now afford to live comfortably with his adopted daughter Mary, Abraham still strongly feels the loss of his son. His life is finally made complete when Sammy returns repentant to marry Abraham's housekeeper Sarah, and the old peddler, his struggles now over, can spend the rest of his days surrounded by his family.

Alice Brady plays a farm girl who marries the son of her next-door neighbor. Her dreams of a gay social whirl are shattered when her husband takes a job as a railway station agent in a lonely prairie outpost. Desperate for companionship, she begins an affair with the railroad president's son, unaware at first that her lover is likewise married.

A little boy and his beloved puppy find themselves in and out of mischief after crafting a homemade tank.

John Stuart Webster, mining engineer, having accumulated a fortune in Death Valley, Calif., starts for Denver. On the train is Dolores Ruey, a beautiful Spanish girl reared in the United States. Webster thrashes a travelling salesman who has been forcing his attentions on Dolores and thereby gains her admiration. Upon his arrival in Denver he leaves for Sobrante, Central America, to finance a mine found by his former protege, Billy Geary. Dolores is also bound for Sobrante. Her father, Don Ricardo Ruey, had been President of the Republic, until he was killed by revolutionists. They board the same train but Webster is seized with ptomaine poisoning and is removed to a hospital. Dolores is met by Billy Geary, who falls desperately in love with her. When he arrives. Webster does everything to give Geary a clear field, but after he has put Dolores' brother in the place his father held, he finds he has not only won a revolution, but a wife.

Eunice Torrence (June Elvidge) has wed the elderly Geoffrey Farrow (Joe Herbert) only because her mother (Isabelle Berwin) wanted her to marry money. But Farrow is a rotten character and Eunice, who really loves Don Chadwick (John Bowers), immediately regrets her decision.

Kernett is a destitute gentleman who tries to kill himself. He is saved by lord Harding who hires him as his personal secretary.

Cliff Hudspeth, the leader of a band of outlaws in Arizona, has won his place by the killing of notorious gun-bullies. At their headquarters, in the Gila Mountains, in consultation with "Ace High," his lieutenant, he plans depredations on the neighboring settlements. Although Hudspeth is powerful, their rule is disputed by El Salvador, a half-breed, and his following of desperadoes. Desert Pass is the scene of many conflicts between the contending bands. Rumors of the arrival of miners with gold causes El Salvador to send "Cactus" Fuller, his henchman, to levy tribute by a hold-up, which is successful. Flushed with triumph, he boasts in the "Golden Fleece" saloon of the ignominies to which he would treat Cliff Hudspeth if he ever met him.

Railroad president, John Houston, along with his daughter Marjorie and his fiancee, Elinor Craig, are aboard the express train when it is held up by a gang of outlaws. Outlaw Dan Tracy, is attracted to Marjorie, who, filled with dreams of romance, returns his interest. They exchange rings and later meet secretly in the city. When Houston learns that his daughter's new suitor is an outlaw, he hires a detective to investigate. The investigation indicates that Tracy is Houston's son by a former marriage, and Houston, mortified, allows the outlaw to escape. Tracy then persuades Marjorie to elope with him and takes her to his shack in the hills where she is rudely awakened to the realities of outlaw life. Houston arrives to save his daughter, and after Tracy is killed by Rosanne, the woman he betrayed, it is revealed that Tracy was not his son but an offspring of his former wife and an outlaw. A lost film.

Upon her parents death heiress Alice Rowland is placed under the guardianship of unscrupulous George Baring, who seeks to gain control of her fortune. First, he tries to force a marriage between Alice and his son James, but old family friend Henry Whitworth, prevents the marriage. Increasingly more desperate Baring imprisons Alice in her room, but she escapes and flees to Whitworth in the middle of the night. Baring petitions the courts for her forced return just as Alice discovers she can dissolve the guardianship by marriage. Alice then marries Whitworth, thus defeating Baring's wicked schemes and securing a happy ending.

A university student and a girl are in love. The girl’s aunt opposes their love. She has decided to marry her off to a rich suitor. The student decides to cunningly discredit the suitor of her choice before the aunt.

Robert Worthing marries his sweetheart, Madeline Francis, but the wedding is ruined by his mother, who announces that because she and her parents are insane, he possesses tainted genes. Fearing that he will pass the disease on to his children, the bridegroom avoids his new wife and locks the door between their rooms. Deeply in love with Madeline, whom he is forced to love only as a sister, Robert considers suicide, but all ends well when the young man learns that he was adopted.

Billy Carter and two Mexicans, Cuteo and Estaban, are smugglers of opium which they bring across the border from Mexico into the United States. The authorities are unable to apprehend them, so "Pinnacle" Bill and "Cheyenne" Harry of the Arizona Ranger Service are sent to assist the sheriff, Dan Beckham, and the inspectors in their search.

Based on the novel of the same name by Harold Bell Wright, The Eyes of the World was told almost exclusively via flashbacks. The basic plotline concerns a pretty violinist, the handsome artist who falls in love with her, and the double-dyed villain who hopes to seduce the girl.

Captain George Curtis is sent from Washington, D.C. to improve conditions on an Indian reservation. After ousting a prejudiced government agent, George earns both the allegiance of the Indians and the hostility of neighboring cattlemen, who hope to appropriate the reservation through political corruption.

James Aldrich is a cinch to win the election as United States Senator until his opponent, Tom Ryan offers a big reward to anyone who can find a scandal in Aldrich's past. Newspaper editor Howard Duncan and his star reporter Ruby Sheldon accept the challenge and, after deciding that Aldrich is straight, decide to investigate his wife Agnes. Going back through the files, they discover that Agnes has been accused of murder and threaten the Aldrichs with exposure.

To decide a wager, two young millionaires decide to take a vagrant from a lodging house and give him the name and wealth of one of the pair, to see what he will do. By mistake they seize upon a young newspaper reporter down on his luck. The reporter enters into the spirit of the idea and wins the girl of his love and gets a better job on his old paper.

Bob Fulton is the superintendent of a mine in the West. He wins the enmity of dancehall owner Jack King when he saves one of the girls, Rose De Braisy, from his unwanted advances. Fulton also wins Rose's love, which he does not return. The mine's owner sends his troublesome son, Roland Holt, out West to work at the mine. Before Holt leaves the East he secretly marries Beth Hoover. Upon Holt's arrival, Fulton tries to befriend him, but Holt prefers the company of bad-guy King.

About the year 1900 in a midnight raid on the palace of a Balkan king, emissaries of a great power slay the royal pair, and carry off the infant crown princess. The time shifts to the present. Foreign agents steal the plans of a new shell loaned Great Britain by America. Halkett and Gray, English officers, recover the plans; and the foreign agents endeavor to gain possession of them again.

Guido, an artist, is obsessed with the desire for the death of Clavering, a rich man who has entered into a forced marriage with Margaret, the girl whom Guido loves. The thought accompanies him in his work, his sleep and fills his every moment. One night, he awakens from a dream in which he has murdered Clavering. The next morning, Clavering is found murdered and Guido labors under the uncanny feeling that he is the murderer. Hoping to relieve Guido's fears, Margaret induces him to paint the picture of his dream. Clavering's butler sees the painting of his dead master, and is so horror stricken that he confesses to murdering Clavering for his money.

Cast out by his father because of his wild shenanigans, Steve King travels west, where he drowns his sorrows in drink. One night while drunk, he marries Lonely Lou, a servant who works in the saloon. Awakening to find his life seemingly destroyed, Steve takes his burro and miserable wife into the mountains to prospect for gold.

Mrs. Balfame is a 1917 Mystery Drama

In 17th century Sweden, as is tradition, a magistrate's widow will take over her husband's job for a year after his death. This causes great difficulty when someone she cares for must be sentenced for the crime of murder.

Tomboy Bess Aiken grows up quickly when her mother deserts her father to elope with wealthy Easterner Vernon Treloar. Left alone with her father, Bess begins to long for feminine companionship, and when an opportunity arises for Bess to visit her newly-remarried mother, her father consents. The little girl soon finds herself in a fairytale world of beautiful gowns and extravagant luxury. Believing that anything her mother does must be correct, Bess soon learns to smoke and drink, much to the displeasure of Kirke Livingston, who loves her but fears she has inherited her mother's weaknesses. Bess disregards his warnings until one day she finds her mother embracing another man. Disillusioned, she departs immediately for her father's cabin, traveling through the woods all night. At daybreak, Kirke finds her and wins her hand in marriage.

After the success of his painting "The Empress," artist DeBaudry (William Morse) takes his model, Nedra (Doris Kenyon), to a roadhouse and, unbeknownst to her, registers them as Mr. and Mrs. The roadhouse proprietor, who is also a part-time blackmailer, takes a photo of them together.

After divorcing her husband Kent, actress Anne Wetherall returns to the stage. Upon receiving a plea for help from childhood chum Nell Jerrold begging Anne to save Nell's daughter Betty from marrying Kent, the ex-Mrs. Wetherall decides to journey to the Jerrold's home in the town of Wheaton to investigate.

The Door Between was based on Anthony the Absolute, a novel by Samuel Merwyn. The story begins in Japan, where American musicologist Anthony Eckert (Monroe Salisbury) is busily collecting records of authentic Japanese folk songs. While thus preoccupied, Eckert makes the acquaintance of a drunkard who has vowed to track down and murder his errant wife.

Madge Black witnesses her best friend Nan Westland, kissing her husband, successful lawyer Jeffrey Arnold Black, a successful lawyer, and orders Nan from the house. Angered by her refusal to let him explain, Jeffrey leaves his wife and son David, Jeffrey meets Nan on a westbound train. Though he does not love her he offers his protection and the next year they welcome a son, William. Nan pleads with him to divorce Madge and marry her for the sake of their son, but he will refuse. Distraught, she marries Ben Richardson, a client of Jeffrey's client, leaving their son behind. Twenty years pass with David becoming a responsible adult while half-brother William now known as “Rodeo” becomes the leader of a lawless band of robbers. Meanwhile Ben Richardson and Nan have become owners of Chanceland, a gambling-house in Colorado and it is there that things reach a climax between the near identical brothers.

Story based on a Saturday Evening Post story entitled "The Painted Lady," which was written by Larry Evans. First mate Luther Smith returns to his home port to discover that his sister has died after being raped. Not long after, his mother dies from grief. Smith swears revenge and ships out on a boat manned by Sutton, "the worst captain this side o' hell". Smith doesn't realize yet that Sutton is the one who ravished his sister, but at sea, his brutalities become obvious.

"Two-Bits," the price men used to pay for a haircut, isn't much money in these days with old Mr. H.C.L. at our heels, but one "Two-Bit" piece surely changed the life events of Jimmy Mason.

Henry Martin receives a letter from Buck Lessen, a convict about to be released from prison, telling him that his time is up and he is going to get him for sending him to prison and marrying his sweetheart, Jane. The Martins and their young daughter move away but Buck learns where they went. Buck is hiding on the porch, planning to ambush Henry when he comes out. Two drunken cowboys ride by firing their pistols. When Henry comes outside he sees Buck's body lying in the grass, shot to death by a stray bullet.

She is content to live in this way, reveling in beauty and the admiration of her friends and Caoudal himself. Until a poet named Dejoie, moved by her beauty, writes verses to her which make both himself and her still more famous, winning her away from Caoudal. A lost film.
