This is a non-fiction film about the Manhattan Trade School for Girls. In 1911, few women got education beyond primary school (especially in the big cities that were full of immigrants). Because of this, women were very limited in their employment options and received very low wages. The idea of this one year trade school was to help these young ladies get a leg up on a variety of trades. Oddly, much of what you see in the film does not seem that related to job skills--such as physical education

The cook has been the bane of many a family, but when it comes to stirring up a western ranch and getting the goats of the cowpunchers there is going to be something doing, and the doing of the something is full of interest, to wit: The cook is not satisfactory and the boys strike for a new "chef." They appeal to the boss and he promises them relief, and it is not long in coming from San Antonio in the person of a very swell fussy French guy, whom they look upon as a huge joke.

Those who for some reason were unable to witness the brilliant tribute paid to the national aviator Juan Bielovucic can now contemplate it from a seat in the Olimpo Theater. The theater was packed, and the clear film, whose length of more than five hundred meters depicts in its smallest details Bielovucic's disembarkation in Callao, his arrival at the Desamparados Station, the journey along Jirón de la Unión, and the parade in front of his home on Avenida de La Colmena, was enthusiastically applauded. This film, like the previous ones premiered in this theater, was developed by the well-known photographer Mr. Lund, and is undoubtedly one of the best, since the minor defects noticeable in the previous films, which were only apparent to experts in the art of photography, have completely disappeared in this one.

Joy abounds in the little workers’ home when the three daughters of the family all come home wearing an engagement ring. When the sons-in-law come to visit, one in particular stands out. The merchant Black is wealthy and wears fine clothes, but the labourer family is quite unimpressed by that. They tease him for his airs and graces, eventually prompting him to take his fiancée by the hand and hurry out of the – in his eyes – wretched home.
