A gambling-addicted clerk, Pavel Simov, ruins his family and vanishes. His wife Rinka, wrongfully imprisoned, reunites with their son years later. When Simov returns, violence erupts—but a final act of redemption brings forgiveness. As Easter bells ring, the family finds hope and a new beginning.
