HD Nation S01 E112 Old HDMI Cables: Just Ignore The Spec!

I was going to get Hulu Plus, but now it's for sale. Should I skip it? Is this old HDMI cable only good for 720p, or can I just plug it into my 1080p HDTV? Blu-ray picks for August 23rd, 2011.
