A young Kyrgyz immigrant tries to eke out a living in Moscow after abandoning her newborn and fleeing the hospital.

Living together in a workers' dorm, Katerina and her friends are determined to make it in Moscow. But when a boorish cameraman forces himself on her, Katerina finds herself pregnant and alone as her friends move on. Twenty years later, Katerina is a factory director, outpacing her old roommates career-wise, yet still alone but for her daughter. Love seems possible again when she meets a genial mechanic.

Contemporary Russia. After he flubs a penalty kick, a humiliated national soccer player quits the game. He flees to a small town, where he decides to coach their local team.

St. Petersburg, early 20th century. The handsome and secretive Johann specializes in shooting erotic pictures depicting the floggings of bare-bottomed women. With the help of his assistants, the photographic creations gradually penetrate the peaceful households of two upper-class Russian families.

A Russian circus visits the US. A clown wants to defect, but doesn't have the nerve. His saxophone playing friend however comes to the decision to defect in the middle of Bloomingdales. He is befriended by the black security guard and falls in love with the Italian immigrant from behind the perfume counter. We follow his life as he works his way through the American dream and tries to find work as a musician.

พวกที่มีพลังพิเศษแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ประเภท คือ ด้านมืด กับด้านสว่าง ด้านมืดมีชื่อว่า Day Watch ส่วนพวกด้านสว่างมีชื่อว่า Night Watch มีสงครามกันมาแต่อดีต รบกันอย่างไม่สิ้นสุด ผลสุดท้ายหัวหน้าแต่ละฝ่ายได้ตกลงทำสัญญาสงบศึกกัน แต่ในปัจจุบัน พวก Day Watch ส่วนมากจะเป็นแวมไพร์ต้องดื่มเลือด แต่ข้อห้ามก็คือห้ามดื่มเลือดมนุษย์ ต้องกินเลือดหมูแทน พวก Night Watch จะล่าพวก Day Watch ที่ฝ่าฝืนกฏคือกินเลือดมนุษย์ (ล่าเฉพาะกลางคืน) ส่วนพวก Night Watch ก็ต้องดื่มน้ำสีแดง(เลือด)ของพวก Day Watch เท่านั้น ดื่มเลือดอย่างอื่นไม่ได้ ในเรื่องจะแบ่งเป็น 2 มิติ มิติของโลกมนุษย์ กับมิติของผู้มีพลังพิเศษ ตัวเอกเป็นผู้มีพลังพิเศษประเภทตาทิพย์ มีคำทำนายแต่โบราณไว้ว่าจะมีผู้ที่ทำลายสมดุลมาเกิด และเด็กคนนั้นไม่ว่าเลือกเข้าฝ่ายไหน ฝ่ายนั้นจะชนะ
