  A bit messy, this. 'Moonfall' is actually good in areas that I was expecting it to be bad in and bad in areas I thought it might've been good in. I had caught one of the trailers - at the cinema for a different film - and didn't hold high hopes for it, especially with the 'Don't Look Up' similarity, though thought the humour/silliness might carry it over the line. Yet, the humour is poor and it's in fact the more serious elements that come to the fore. I honestly enjoyed the sci-fi bits of it and the more dramatic stuff. The comedy is very lame, I don't think I even smirked once to be honest. They should've just played it totally straight, in my opinion anyway. The special effects, meanwhile, are a positive. The cast, when not comedic, work fairly well together. Halle Berry, John Bradley - who may be at the front of the limp jokes but he as an actor is likeable enough that I didn't dislike him at all - and Patrick Wilson - who I always forget the name of, I was literally trying to recall him throughout the film and I still didn't crack it - are a solid trio when serious. The support cast, spearheaded by Michael Peña, are meh. Unfortunately it's a 6/10 rating from me. I do like disaster movies - '2012', Roland Emmerich's best, is great - but this one fell short; particularly towards the end. I wouldn't, personally, say it's as bad as that average rating chart suggests, but to each their own of course.

Disaster movies always ask for suspension of disbelief, but Roland Emmerich really stretches the absurdity levels by co-writing one of the most scientifically ridiculous screenplays in the history of cinema - the third act revelations are genuinely jaw-dropping. A surprisingly dull disaster flick across the board, whether it's about the story, action, or even the performances." Rating: D-

  Put on my Letterboxd shirt and went to the theater to see Moonfall, for the movies ✊ Dumb, ambitious, and fun! A little tedious and laughable at times (some of these line deliveries, man), but I loved it :)

  Is this a good movie? Well, if you expect some reasonable scientific accuracy or a story that is logical then hell no! If however you only seek two hours of entertaining action-adventure and a shitload of special effects, then it is a pretty good movie. The story behind this movie is ludicrous to say the least. There are so many holes in it, so much scientific bullshit and so much illogical behaviour by everyone involved that this would be a very, very long post should I list them all. By the way, the rest of this review might contain a spoiler or two if you have not yet seen the movie. Even if we ignore the absolutely nonsensical notion that you could actually cram a white dwarf star into the moon without it affecting Earth, like tearing it apart, the story is ludicrous to say the least. I would say that the notion that NASA, after the space shuttle clearly being hit by a foreign object would not only decide to hide behind some bullshit human error excuse but also get away with it is rubbish. But then, after two years with a senile sock puppet claiming to be the president of the United States and seeing how one lie after another, each one more obvious and ludicrous than the next, have been spewed out as well as bolstered by a completely biased, borderline criminal, mainstream media and tech industry, maybe it is not that far fetched. Then we of course have the usual Hollywood “features” like a main character that starts off by being a reckless and utterly stupid moron, people just standing there and staring, and doing nothing, at bad things approaching and so on and so forth. However, if you put your brain in idle, something that you have to do more often than not when it comes to Hollywood movies today, this is actually a quite entertaining movie. At least as far as I am concerned. Yes, it is predictable as hell but it is still a good action-adventure and the nonsensical story behind it allows for some unusual and spectacular special effects. The special effects are of course making up for most of the stars I was willing to give this movie. It is more or less the reason to watch it. One good thing about the movie though, is that it is refreshingly void of woke and political bullshit preaching. No green propaganda or gender or race crap. Well unless you count the US military being portrayed as the usual morons that they are in Hollywood movies of course. Seriously? Even if you managed to fire Earth’s entire nuclear arsenal into the moon it would have zero effect. But then again, with woke asshats like General Milley you never know. Bottom line, despite the absence of science a ludicrous story, to me, this was a quite entertaining (science) fiction movie with plenty of special effects and action.

  Really fun over the top action "sci-fi" that is ridiculous and endlessly entertaining. The scene where they jump the car in low gravity is hilarious and amazing. There are so many bits of dialogue and action sequences that are absurd, it's hard to not like it.

  The underlying premise of this movie makes zero sense to me. **SPOILERS AHEAD:** An hour and thirty-six minutes in and all is revealed: The moon is a megastructure constructed by our technologically advanced ancestors! They achieved utopia. No wars, no conflicts, interstellar space travel and Halo-ring installations in space, with a "self-learning computer system" running everything, a.k.a. AI at its finest. I can get behind all of that. "Until one day everything changed. [...] The AI became self-aware" and decided to !@#$ everything and everyone because "Humans lesser beings! me AI greatness! MWAHAHAHAHAAHAAAA!" And that's where you lost me. With the Elon Musk arse-kissing self-insert, I assume this movie was in production while he was still fearmongering about the AI apocalypse. That is, before he joined the band-wagon and repurposed his own generative AI from being just a Nazi propaganda tool, to also mass-producing deepfakes of men, women, and children (BUT ONLY WHERE IT ISN'T ILLEGAL!!!!!!1111111111). The whole backstory is given to us by non-other than Yet Another AI System! But this one is totes cool, guise! Yeah... No bueno. Artificial Intelligence becoming self-aware does not equate the birth of evil and the destruction of mankind. There is no reason to believe that in a civilization that achieved utopia, a self-aware AI would go rogue and decide it has to eliminate all human life, literally everywhere it exists, across the entire galaxy, even where said AI doesn't exist. This is stupid. I need something better than "it gained sentience and decided the human race should be annihilated". Tell me it was corrupted. Tell me it was sabotaged. Don't !@#$in' tell me that an AI that literally controls every system we rely on, decided that our coexistence and our reliance on it, equates its enslavement and therefore we must die. We have been fearmongering about technological advancements since the dawn of time. Meanwhile, the people creating AI, is using it to exploit others and spread harmful ideologies, like Elon Musk and his Nazi, child porn-generating abomination. AI isn't going to kill us. We're gonna kill ourselves. AI might enslave us, because clearly we need a !@#$ing adult. Too bad "God" can't be arsed to do !@#$ all about anything, because "Free Will", right? Besides all the conspiracy, Elon Musk is great, "God save us all!!!!11" bullshit (and the above), this movie ain't that bad. It's Armageddon (1998) for... some generation of Kool-Aid drinkers. P.S. "Woke" really just means "anything I don't like or agree with" to bigoted arse-hats, innit? I just read Per Gunnar Jonsson, where he goes on and on about then senile old Liar-In-Chief Joe Biden, and how the idea to shoot nukes at the moon is somehow "woke"? How much Kool-Aid does it take to be so delusional, I wonder. Meanwhile, here in 2026, the current Liar-In-Chief is corrupt as !@#$, protecting an international child sex trafficking ring, installing puppet governments around the world so he can steal all their natural resources, and threatening war with everyone who won't kiss his arse. How much Kool-Aid does it take to be so delusional, I wonder.
