I was actually contacted by the director regarding this film (a perk of making films in the found footage area), and was intrigued by the opening caption mentioning violence, swearing, torture etc. Mostly because you rarely get that on Youtube films, but also because it reminded me of how I like genuinely unsettling horror films and think if I'm mortified by them and what they contain that's a pretty good sign given my detached nature. Anyway, this is a good film. I say that mostly due to the direction and visuals, which are very creepy. I don't sadly have the first clue what happened in the film, as it seems constructed like a jigsaw puzzle and I think it'll probably require multi-views to figure out. Maybe. Who knows? I can appreciate that it's not, I think, a generic plot and that it's footage jammed together that seems deliberately out of order but also part of that cosmic horror angle I prefer from these films. I mean, I think it is... But what I really like is it commits to the bit. Recent horror like Shelby Oaks wanted to have its cake and eat it too in that regard, the more amateurish bits being the best bits IMO. I think this film, as it's clearly low-budget, doesn't feel constrained with quadrants or any such nonsense that your generic studio horror films have to. I mean this film clearly has a plot but, as mentioned above, it's in there for the viewer to figure out rather than 'I am a professor and I'm going to explain everything.' Of course, that is also a downfall as it means the first viewing is a 'the Hell is going on?' experience. Still, the visuals and directing are terrifying and it's disturbing enough. Which is good. I'd recommend it be given a try because I was genuinely impressed by the craft involved. Would it be better with a more fully-formed obvious story? I don't know. But it's a solid piece of business.
