คู่รักหนุ่มสาว ได้ย้ายเข้ามาอยู่ในบ้านหลังใหม่ที่ซานดิเอโก แคลิฟอร์เนีย ทั้งคู่ใช้ชีวิตอยู่ด้วยกันมา 3 ปีแล้ว เคที่เป็นนักศึกษาที่ใกล้จะจบ ส่วนมิกาห์เป็นนักลงทุน เคที่เชื่อว่ามีอะไรบางอย่างที่เหนือธรรมชาติติดตามตัวเธอมาตั้งแต่อายุ 8 ขวบ ซึ่งเป็นที่ตัวเธอเอง ไม่เกี่ยวกับบ้าน มิกาห์แม้ไม่ค่อยเชื่อเรื่องนี้แต่ก็ใช้วิธีติดตั้งกล้องไว้ทั่วบ้าน โดยเฉพาะอย่างในห้องนอนของทั้งคู่ เพื่อตรวจจับสิ่งผิดปกติที่จะเกิดขึ้น

What starts as a poignant medical documentary about Deborah Logan's descent into Alzheimer's disease and her daughter's struggles as caregiver degenerates into a maddening portrayal of dementia at its most frightening, as hair-raising events begin to plague the family and crew and an unspeakable malevolence threatens to tear the very fabric of sanity from them all.

The film contains five stories set on desolate stretches of a desert highway. Two men on the run from their past, a band on its way to a gig, a man struggling to get home, a brother in search of his long-lost sister and a family on vacation are forced to confront their worst fears and darkest secrets in these interwoven tales.
