เรื่องราวความรักและความรุนแรงเมื่อชายคนหนึ่งซึ่งกำลังสิ้นหวังได้พบกับผู้ช่วยชีวิตที่กำลังเต้นรำอย่างเย้ายวนในคลับเปลื้องผ้าที่ทรุดโทรม และชีวิตที่กำลังจะตกหน้าผาก็เปลี่ยนไปอย่างสิ้นเชิง เพราะทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างล้วนมีค่าพอที่จะยอมตายเพื่อแลกกับชีวิต

เรื่องราวของนักสืบมือดีอย่าง ทอม แบรนท์ ที่เมื่อวันดีคืนดีเขากลับต้องมาเจอกับคดีที่ไม่คาดฝันนั้นคือการมาของ นายตัวร้ายโรคจิต ที่ใช้ชื่อฆาตกรว่า ‘เดอะ บลิทซ์’ ที่ได้มีเป้าหมายหลักๆนั้นคือ การล้างโคตรตำรวจทั้ง 8 คนที่ทำให้เขาเคยโดนเข้าคุก เข้าตาราง ในอดีต โดยมีวิธีการฆ่าที่สุดจะโหดเหี้ยม จึงทำให้เฮียเถิก เบรนท์ ต้องผนึกกำลังกับ หัวหน้าตำรวจ คนใหม่ที่มีแววว่าจะเป็น แต๋ว อย่าง พอตเตอร์ แนช เพื่อจับตัวฆาตกรอย่าง เดอะ บลิทซ์ มาให้ได้ก่อนที่เขานั้นจะมาตามตัวถึงเป้าหมายที่สำคัญของเขา ที่นั้นก็คือ แบรนท์ นั้นเอง

ในอพาร์ตเมนท์ซ่อมซ่อแห่งหนึ่งในแอลเอ แฟรงคลิน แฟรงคลิน (แมตต์ ลูคัส) มีศพของเจ้าของห้องเช่านอนอยู่บนพื้นห้องครัว อีกทั้งยังต้องอยู่ท่ามกลางเพื่อนร่วมตึกสารพัดความเพี้ยนทั้ง สิงห์ขี้ยา (จอห์นนี่ น็อกซ์วิลล์) กับแฟนหญิง (รีเบล วิลสัน) สาวผู้ใฝ่ฝันเป็นดาวจ้ำบ๊ะ (จูโน่ เทมเปิล) และศิลปิน (เจมส์ คาน) แล้วยังมีผู้ที่เข้ามาเสริมความวุ่นวายอย่าง พนักงานสืบสวนขี้เมา (บิลลี่ คริสตัล) ที่คอยซักถามเกี่ยวกับผู้ตาย แต่อะไรก็ไม่กวนใจแฟรงคลินได้เท่ากับความฝันเกี่ยวกับสวิสเซอร์แลนด์และการรอรับจดหมายทุกวันจากน้องชายที่อยู่โรงพยาบาลบ้า (เจมส์ มาร์สเด็น) จนเมื่อวันหนึ่งที่จดหมายไม่มาและแฟรงคลินเริ่มสติแตก โดยไม่รู้เลยว่าน้องชายประสาทเสียของเขามีความลับบางอย่างที่จะปลดปล่อยเขาให้เป็นอิสระ
