The film captures suspension performances in a Kharkiv nightclub, a subculture involving body suspension through piercings. Participants, often teenagers interested in heavy music and body art, use this practice as a protest against societal norms and a form of youth radicalism. Unlike political activism, it symbolizes a desire to escape social ties through pain. Five years later, Ukraine’s war shifted pain’s symbolism from escape to a new normality, as many young people joined military and volunteer efforts.

The procession ends at the monument to the dead miners, which is located just above the site of the underground accident that led to the death of the workers. Participants walk across the postindustrial landscape of Donbas, over the plowed fields, by bushes and courtyards, connecting the ground and the underground spaces through the choreography of their bodies.

This video work was filmed on a coast of the Black Sea and shows a static horizon dotted with figures of fishermen. The calm surface of the image is periodically punctured by scenes of jellyfish splattering on the ground. The association with the sound of bombs dropping is achieved with recordings of frequencies produced by a jet plane. The video conveys the unsteadiness and relativity of calmness – how quickly and easily military aggression can escalate in the modern world. This work was made in response to the conflict between Georgia, Abkhazia and Russia that took place 6 years before the invasion of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea.

The documentary follows the story of Iryna's family (name changed), who fled Russian occupation to save her son from possible conscription. Before leaving, representatives of the occupation authorities pressured her to enroll her children in a local school, threatening to send them to an orphanage if she didn't. Another key figure in the investigation, Oksana (name changed), was promised a holiday in Crimea on the Black Sea coast by the occupying authorities. Instead, she was taken to a military training camp in Russia — part of a program established under Putin's initiative after 2022. At the camp, Oksana was taught to dig trenches, operate drones, and carry out tasks under the supervision of Russian military instructors, who in some cases fought in Russia's war against Ukraine.

"Thus they will sing" is a movie-collage that interweaves human experiences, soromitski (shaming) songs and the flow of modern life. Soromnitski (shaming) songs are traditional songs (spivankas) with erotic motifs, sung at weddings, vechornytsi (evening parties), and feasts. Although they were quite shameful to sing in everyday life, they were broadcasting the man and woman's behavior patterns. The tradition of creating the spivankas (these songs) still exists. Ostap Bohoslovets from Nadvirna town re-analyses the modern world of youth in his own spivankas
