Mbambu is a sixteen-year-old girl who lives at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda. She is also an actress, an aspiring mountain guide and hopes to be the first in her family to complete secondary school. These are significant ambitions for anyone; in Uganda, they are nearly unheard of for a young girl. If Mbambu becomes a guide in the Rwenzoris - an impressive accomplishment in its own right because the mountains reach to nearly 17,000 feet - she would break all sorts of cultural and societal barriers for women in West Uganda. As this film tells the story of a hopeful Bakonzo girl, it also examines a culture transitioning from harmful poaching practices into more sustainable livelihoods.

Formally intervening with found footage of commercials, this experimental video allows one to rethink image while creating narrative which discovers one of many skillfully covered senses of media images. As the title suggests this video performs Lacan's opinion that in contemporary capitalism 'surplus value' is no longer capitalized for later libidinal enjoyment - nowadays surplus value is re-invested in production process.

In a Serbian village on the slopes of Stara Planina live 15 households. The youngest man in the village is 70 years old. The film gathers the intimate thoughts of the inhabitants of this village, whose wait for death is marked not by loneliness but by a common bond. The reduced nature of their daily life speaks not of poverty but of a spiritual wealth. Though without heirs or much of a future, they are not crushed by their solitude, but thankful for the life given to them. By observing their life, which is focused on the details of daily tasks, through deliberate movement and silent gestures, we discover people in harmony with the cycles of nature. In presenting their most intimate reflections on isolation, wilderness, life, love, this film is a testament of their preparations for their journey.
