The training process of professional soccer players has become part of a powerful economic system. The case of Pintinho illustrates the drama not only of soccer players, but all those gifted with talent and potential who permanently struggle against the social and economic conditions in which they live and which hinder their personal realization. The film shows soccer as one of the few ways of escaping poor social conditions, as well as the high price of success, the problems in overcoming personal limitations and bearing the pressures of premature expectations.

Young leadership and audiovisual director, Patrícia Ferreira has been recognized for the documentaries she makes with her people, the Guarani Mbya. When asked to discuss her work at one of the largest ethnographic film festivals in the world, the Margaret Mead Film Festival, held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, Patrícia is faced with a series of exhibitions, debates and attitudes that the they make us reflect on the world of “juruá”, contrasting it with the Guarani modes of existence.

Tree Time imagines a relationship between nature and technology unmediated by human presence. The video was shot in the Amazon rainforest with a drone enacting a disembodied point of view that floats through the densely compressed forest canopy, taking off, hovering above the ground, and occasionally returning to it. The work’s title is informed by a series of interviews with a dendrochronologist who studies methods of tracking climate change by ‘reading’ the annual tree rings in the Amazon rainforest –ecological recordings reveal a hidden dimension of narrative time within nature itself.

Plantman is the story of a character half man, half plant, the product of a scientific experiment seeking to make the world a better place, fusing the best of what humans and plants have to offer. Unfortunately people just cannot bring themselves to accept such a strange creature.

Documenting my experimentation process, me and a fellow crew member carry an electric generator, a light projector, and a GoPro near the ocean as we delve deeper in our artistic research. Slowly the process demonstration and the resultant imagery start to mingle.

A visual and sound study of different landscapes within the islands of the Azores, an archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean. Structured through a series of static compositions, these places exude traces of familiar but illusory cultural memory and a family history marked by the diaspora. Through contemplative observation, the elements of the landscapes oscillate gradually, the notions of homeland and origin are combined in an impressionist memory, going back over time until the moment of its volcanic birth.

A ritual of three decades takes place in a coffee shop. A fortune-telling mother, a distant father and an excessively noisy family.
