During a trip to the countryside, they pass by the place where the chest of drawers is sold. Dr. Gregersen's wife is pregnant. Meanwhile, the doctor has bought an expensive typewriter. The doctor advertises the typewriter for sale through his friend, and the buyer is none other than the doctor's wife. A couple wants a bigger apartment, they argue and break up. Later, we meet them again, where they have both found work through an advertisement with a rich man as a housekeeper and a driver. A woman wants to sell a pram because she is going to the hospital. Her little son is to be looked after by her sister. The couple who cannot have children have just adopted the little boy's sister and now come to buy the pram.

On the Jutland heath near Salling lies Hegnsgaarden. Here reigns the tyrannical and brutal owner Wolle Rævsgaard. His wife Karen has been forced by her father to marry Wolle, although she loves someone else, the poor Per Søwren. When Per sees the love of his life disappear, he marries Ane, a vicious and harsh woman who, because of Per's love for his beloved books, sets fire to their poor house in jealousy, which then burns to the ground. After this episode, Per begins to drink. But wherever he goes in the area, he is welcome. His always good mood brightens up and makes people happy, except at Hegnsgaarden. Wolle has not forgotten that it was Per who was Karen's lover. 15 years have passed and Trine, daughter at Hegnsgaarden, has grown up and become a pretty young girl.

During the EU enlargement negotiations, Danish journalist Christoffer Guldbrandsen accompanied his country's prime minister, Fogh Rasmussen, during the three-month negotiations. When we wrote 'Nu Som Mennesker', we wanted to try something new. We wanted to invest ourselves in the material in a different way. And develop the stand-up form. We think we succeeded a fair bit along the way. But that kind of thing is a commitment. There's no point in us just making an ordinary filming of the show when we're going to make a DVD. We have to take things the rest of the way. Because if we don't do that, who will? That's why the version of 'Nu Som Mennesker' you're now sitting with is somewhat different to the show we toured with in 2011/2012, although of course it still forms the core. We've played around with the material, added a lot of new things, moved some of the show out into reality, made a music video, let Jørgen Leth tell the story, and anything else we thought would take the show to a new place that fits the format. Martin returns home with a good sum of money in his pocket after working in Greenland. He settles down with his sister, who runs the inn – but much has changed. The relationship between Greenland and Denmark is full of fantasy and myths. And these are exactly what Danish artist Lasse Lau reflects upon – and in turn documents – in his first feature-length film. But how do you give a form to the Greenlandic experience when you are an outsider yourself? Lau has created a sensitive film about authenticity and recreation by letting both elements become a part of the work, together with his performers. But also by watching and listening intently. The colonial history is entrenched in both Greenland's infinitely beautiful landscapes and in the collective consciousness. But so is the willingness to break with it and look ahead with a new political self-awareness. 'Lykkelænder' is the result of a long-term research project, but talks about its extremely complex topics in a way that grounds the postcolonial perspective in a recognisable life experience. It does so with both a sense of humour and with emphasis.

Not only do the market and his career look like a Trabant from before the fall of the Berlin Wall, but he has a wife who is thriving in success; a family whose habits are driving him insane; clients with bad taste and too much money.
