Without protection and guarantees for the future, young farmers are gradually giving up their profession in favor of agricultural management companies. A documentary journey to a time and place long considered lost. The main character tries to find a village near an old international railway line where his recently deceased mother spent her youth. The past merges with the present as the filmmaker blends archival footage and close-ups of nature with old photographs. By listening to them, we sense a missed opportunity with these young people who are still trying to heal very painful wounds today. All this time spent without having listened to them enough has undoubtedly caused a crisis of meaning that we would be wrong to underestimate.

In 1954, on the Moamba plateau near Leopoldville, the Catholic University of Louvain commissioned the construction of the interracial Lovanium University. The film follows the construction of the complex (professors' villas, student dormitories, faculty buildings). It also shows the type of teaching provided, as well as the infrastructure (laboratories, workshops, recreation rooms and canteen).

In a few brief moments in the life of a young girl, we see her drawing on the window with a marker as she sings and chats, and walking along the main road on her way to meet her friend, meanwhile surrounded by cars and trucks racing dangerously close to her.

Deeply influenced by the image of a film by Maya Deren, Céline Ruivo explores avant-garde cinema by meeting New Yorkers Peggy Ahwesh, Jeanne Liotta and Su Friedrich. Despite the differences in their worlds, Cinégraphies weaves a sensitive link between these filmmakers, united around feminism and artistic experimentation.

A slow iris pull on a reflected interior bulb at twilight triggers mydriasis and miosis. As the interior moon waxes, pupils will wane. Your eyes will move diametrically against the slow increase of circular light in the frame and the film will control your body momentarily.

The world Prouvost invents here might perhaps originate with the 11 cm figurine known as the “Venus of Willendorf” as great-grandmother of us all. The artist borrows the story of this stone-age sculpture, reinterpreting and interweaving contextual motifs. Among the many interpretations that fascinate Prouvost is one whereby the figurine, named “Venus” by her finder, might not be a fertility symbol but rather a representation of a wise grandmother.
