Two bed frames pushed together are traced from bottom to top by the camera and pass over to Scheirl in a suit, panning over her. This is followed by repeated vertical pans up high-rise buildings. In between is Pürrer with a fixed gaze and extravagant jewelry. The music is by the anarcho-punk band Crass.

Two crown princes, two world empires – and two completely different dramas, fatefully connected to each other: Rudolf of Austria and Wilhelm of Prussia. Both princes suffer greatly from the role assigned to them of maintaining a world that is collapsing. And both endure childhood traumas in their relationships with their parents, which they will struggle with for the rest of their lives. Yet their goals and worldviews could not be more different – the liberal Rudolf has a vision of a united Europe, while the conservative Wilhelm primarily wants to strengthen his own empire and rule authoritatively. A docudrama about two heirs to European imperial houses of the same age, but who follow completely different paths – for one, it culminates in personal triumph, for the other in tragedy.

…where do we travel when we dream – to hidden spaces, landscapes, countries, worlds? …what guides, confuses or frightens us when we dream? Do we move forward, do we get lost, do we get closer or even find… ourselves when we dream? One after the other we are dragged into different dreamscapes.

Glass arrangements on overhead projectors shine. This work is a sea of moods. And although the sources of this emotional scenery are visible in their fragility, we can hardly escape their strength. What happens when all the suns set at the same time?

In this wondrously captivating experiment, Albert Sackl creates a quasi-stereoscopic effect by moving a Bolex camera on a rail from left to right, continuously capturing two frames on each side. The way in which these come together in a small perspectival point makes gestures seem to quiver, bodies tremble, and buildings shake. Silently, not only the two different angles but also the individuals in the frame find their way towards each other.

Around 1520, Schwaz and the silver region became the Silver Empire, the Silicon Valley of Europe. Not only the mining of silver and copper, but also the associated “industry” characterize the villages and hamlets of the region. With the arrival of the Fuggers, the Tyrolean trades disappear. Power, powerlessness, wealth and poverty - new times dawn in the “silver empire”. In 1521, the Fuggers take over the exploitation of silver mining in Schwaz/Tyrol. This marks the beginning of a new European era. Schwaz silver is used to buy empires, finance wars and set progress in motion. But it is not only the “silver town” of Schwaz, but also the entire region around Schwaz along the Lower Inn Valley, as well as other regions of Europe, that provide innovations with silver and also the lesser-known copper mining.

Pale Alpine scenery, trembling focus, plus a silence drowned out by rumbling and static. Distance and fragmentation determine the vibrational space of Resonance. Telephoto views of cloud-covered glaciers. Blurred edges of forest, a view of a dim valley. Or, in the opposite direction, television towers appear in the shimmering light of high Alpine horizons: in particular, the Felsenegg broadcasting tower, built in 1963 on the Albis mountain range southwest of Zurich.

Time seems to stand still in southern Burgenland. Not only for the gentle tourism, but also for those men that Katrin Schlösser visits in her impressive documentary. The “buben” or “boys” of various ages referred to in the title tell of their work, everyday life, their families, and mainly about the changes that demands of them, a new image of masculinity. Of a transformation that they have to deal with.

A few years later: the reunion. Marlene and Maria are nervous; a shot of schnapps is quickly placed on the table. They exchange news, and hints suggest a love story that didn’t end well. Simon Spitzer, however, leaves such interpretations to the viewers’ imagination. Thus, the women experience a frenzied afternoon that not only speaks to a shared past but also reveals a present that diverges sharply from it.

In this film, language is used as a sculptural tool to create space and subsequently dissolve it. The cinematic image space becomes an ice sculpture. Its physical appearance is connected to an absorbing soundscape. The term entropy describes the thermodynamic state of an object or body, which is shrinking continuously during the film. The virtual space expands and the arctic volume dwindles.

The eye operates with such amazing precision that individual film frames can be read. Nevertheless, when the content in their sequence becomes too different, the perception of the actually projected content is stretched to its limits. Shown in individual frames, the alphabet is something we can only assume while placing trust in its reproduction. The 25 frames per second are rendered a visual challenge. Additionally, as the spoken alphabet is condensed into one second, it loses its contours. The story, however, still remains complete; it is interpreted, which makes for the beauty of this film: Not everything needs to be perceived or shown, we fill in the missing parts through interpretation in our heads.
