Der Geisterseher

In 1787, Friedrich Schiller published his story about a prince who manipulates, seduces, and ultimately falls victim to a murderous intrigue in Rococo Venice. The prince, an enlightened ruler with a penchant for worldly things, travels to the funeral of his brother, a sometimes mentally confused, generally incompetent, alcohol-addicted good-for-nothing who died in a brawl. Having come to fulfill a tedious duty, the prince falls in love with a mysterious beauty against a romantic backdrop of dreamy gondolas, castles, and masks, and she drives him mad. He, who is usually guided by incorruptible judgment, becomes increasingly entangled in the finely woven web of his invisible enemies from the nobility and clergy. For, despite all reason, it is a matter of succession to the throne and thus of power.

Kribus - Krabus - Domine

In this short, cracks appear in the idyllic concept of ‘Heidi in the Alps’. Lisa is eight and spending the summer with her parents in the mountains. But the much-vaunted beauty of nature provides the young girl with little comfort in the sparse Alpine landscape. Instead, it seems eerie. Her father is often away and her mother is always busy with washing and doing the dishes. Lisa watches and fantasises about being far away – ideally in Persia. In the South Tirolean dialect, “kribus krabus” means “topsy turvy”. The “domine” in the title stands for the opposite, for God, control, and power. (Berlinale)

Dass wir niemals Dagewesen sein werden

The last film footage of Günther Anders, who died in December 1992, consists of a conversation with him about his "career," his position on nuclear power, and his reflections on violence and resistance. The film is intended as a document; only sentences or individual words spoken by the philosopher Anders are repeated, preceded by intertitles, "underlined," and placed in a different context than Anders intended. It is about reflecting on our possible range of actions.
