MONDI MAGNETICI

A regurgitation of years of television suffered and re-proposed in the dreamlike and contracted form of a video computer that was the first to be able to emit a digestible return signal from a television. The first response on the same rhythms and themes as television. Primordial consumer technology as a creative basis for a video work on the border between painting and animation. United with the video hiss of AMIGA pixels, with the overflow of its other color frequencies, the hold of the PAL, on the border of VHS. A narrative construction that tells in a non-linear way. Since 1995 a prelude to contemporary visuals.

Nero Inferno

Nero Inferno is a significant documentary which explores the 90s Milan trainbombing scene. It successfully captures some of the raw emotions of northern Italy’s underground bombing universe, collecting rare footage, photos and interviews which include writers like Bread, Rae, MastroK, Spice, Dumbo. Great sound bites from these guys, who wanted to raise their voices upon the grey murmur of the big ciy. The film shows also some action, showcasing the street bombing missions in the subway of Milan. It’s an essential video for those who were there and who was not and anyone who don’t want to forget the historical memory of a movement.

La stanza delle rondini

A “noble” story, an experienced “virile”, homage, without simulations, to the courage of being oneself, to the vitality, the human richness of people. Cima weaves a clear and refined narrative fabric… An appropriate and composite language, dry and sober, devoted to the non hagiographic observation of the people and of their life. The choice of the shot, the solutions of the editing respond to criteria of pursued effectiveness, which represent a vision of the concepts considered important by this people: the relationship between man and nature, the relationship between fellow men, concentrating their attention on their history and on their past. Giacomo Quarenghi, Architetto a Pietroburgo

Filmed in Russia. The artistic itinerary and life of Giacomo Quarenghi, born in 1744 in Capiatone of Rota Imagna (Bergamo), a fistful of houses linked to the outside world by a narrow mule track. He was summoned to Russia, to the court of the Tsars, by Catherine II, a great admirer of Quarenghi. In St. Petersburg between the end of the 1700s and the start of the 1800s, a great number of palaces designed by him are built. He is a lonely man, despite the fevour of one of the most scintillating courts in Europe which surrounds him.

Onko

I produced the piece «Onko» in 1997. I cut super 8 film loops into measured lengths. I projected these, randomly trapping frames in the gate on each cycle. The startled expression of the passenger and the incremental increase of degradation hint at the subsidence of memories over time. What we see and project clearly in our mind today, will degrade and collapse. Memory, like film, degrading with each review, accumilating detritus, emotional dust and scratches, confusing and blurring the credibility of personal experience.
