Dirkschneider: 40th Anniversary of Balls to the Wall Show - W:O:A 2025

Udo Dirkschneider is a rock icon in every sense of the word — over four decades ago he was a founding member of Accept and the creator of legendary classics like “Balls to the Wall” and “Fast as a Shark.” Now he’s celebrating that sound with a special anniversary show that lets the original brilliance of this masterpiece shine in a new light. The “40th Anniversary of Balls to the Wall Show” is about more than nostalgia — it’s a triumph over time itself. With full energy and goosebump-inducing moments, Dirkschneider delivers the band’s anthems as powerfully as he did back then. This is where thunderous metal history meets world-class live performance. When Udo and his band hit the stage at Wacken, you don’t just hear familiar songs — you feel every heartbeat and every lyric that once made entire stadiums shake. Miss it, and you’re not just missing a concert — you’re missing the soundtrack of an era.

The Words of the Chairman

I was on a ship – this sounds like a novel: I had just embarked for Venezuela on June 2, 1967 as the Shah of Iran was arriving in West Berlin. There were protests, a student was shot, and a new form of opposition movement came into existence. The idea for this film came to me while I was still aboard the ship. The film is structured like a commercial. The film takes a metaphor literally: words can become weapons. However, it also shows that these weapons are made of paper. The weapon spoiled everything for the Shah and his wife, they are wearing paper bags on their heads with faces drawn on them – the kind of bags worn by Iranian students during demonstrations to hide their identity from the Savak, the Iranian Secret Service. When I showed this film to the audiences in the late 60s, it was highly praised. I think people understood then that over obviousness is also a form of irony. This capacity was lost a few years later. I think it's coming back today. –HF

We All Bleed Red

The intimate relationship that a photographer develops with the people whose photos he’s taking is at the heart of this film. New York-based Martin Schoeller won acclaim for his ultra close-up portraits of figures like George Clooney, Barack Obama, and Taylor Swift, yet here director Josephine Links focuses on his work featuring people who are not in the public eye, including homeless people and death row exonerees. Through testimonies from everyday people he’s interested in capturing, this documentary shows how some of us survive on the margins of society.

Judenhass in Deutschland - 80 Jahre nach Auschwitz

In 2025, anti-Semitism is more widespread in Germany than at any time since the end of the Holocaust. Since October 7, 2023, the attack on Israel by Palestinian terrorists led by Hamas, the number of anti-Semitic crimes in Germany has doubled, and violence is increasing. This documentary follows Jews and asks how they are dealing with the rise of anti-Semitism. Three survivors of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp speak out, expressing their horror at the resurgence of anti-Semitism 80 years later. Likewise, survivors of the most recent massacre are receiving a voice, such as Tal Shamony, who studies in Berlin, and experiencing only hostility instead of support. Jewish student Lahav Shapira, whose grandfathers died during both the Holocaust and the 1972 Munich Olympic massacre, was brutally beaten by pro-Palestinian activists at the Free University of Berlin, a hotbed of anti-Semitism, simply because he advocated for the release of Israeli hostages. Yet politicians remain inactive.
