Sadly, another rather uninspired comedy romp trying hard to exploit the talents of Richard Hearne - and in this case, Francis L. Sullivan - but let down badly by a really poor script and too many slapstick sketches. Once again, Hearne is cast in two roles and has to juggle both identities in an overly convoluted plot that is both immediately obvious and, I'm afraid, unfunny. I can't imagine there was much of a budget nor time to put much creative effort into this wartime effort, so bearing that in mind it could well have been worse - but it is little better than a curio of the times, now.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Con artist Lawrence Jamieson is a longtime resident of a luxurious coastal resort, where he enjoys the lavish fruits of his deceptions -- that is, until a competitor, Freddy Benson, shows up. When the new guy's lowbrow tactics impinge on his own sophisticated work and believing him to be the infamous conman 'The Jackal', Lawrence resolves to get rid of him. Confident of his own duplicitous talents, he challenges Freddy to a winner-takes-all competition: whoever swindles their latest mark, American heiress Janet Colgate, out of $50,000 first can stay, while the other must leave town.
