Swinging Safari

"Staying alive was harder than you think."

1975: A 200-ton blue whale gets washed up on a local beach and the kids think it’s the biggest thing that’s ever happened in Australia. Behind closed doors, the Mums and Dads of a quiet suburban street are going to celebrate in their own special way, by joining the sexual revolution and throwing a wife-swapping key party. And like the rotting whale, it’s all about to go spectacularly wrong.

Despite not being born until nearly 20 years after _Swinging Safari_ is set, I can still confirm for you that a lot of the movie rang true for my own youth, I recognise a lot of my country in what was put forth here, and felt enriched for it. What I'm not too sure about though is how much _Swinging Safari_ will ingratiate itself with people who aren't Australian, regardless of timeline. I'd be interested to hear the opinion of someone that fits that bill, because as much as I enjoyed it, I'm concerned that the appeal might not cross that barrier. Also it really **really** seemed like Swinging Safari incorporated the Paul Jennings' story _Greensleeves_ into its B-plot, but I can't find any credit to it which is unusual... Final rating:★★★½ - I really liked it. Would strongly recommend you give it your time.
