Christian Europe in the early Middle Ages. Fleeing from pursuing horsemen, the main character, a young man with a difficult life, is mortally wounded. When he regains consciousness, Sokil finds himself in an unreal place. Its inhabitants exist within the strict confines of ideal laws. Failure to comply with these laws results in terrible punishment. Always! No one can leave this strange place or die. The sorceress of this world, Spider Woman, brings them back to life every time. The inhabitants of the afterlife restore their strength by "sucking" it out of Sokil's dreams and fantasies. They fill the lifeless with life. Based on Valery Shevchuk's novel "Birds from the Invisible Island."
