In 1905, in the village of Asotsu, Fukui prefecture. Gozaemon Masunaga was struggling to establish industry in the area. At that time, his younger brother, Kohachi, proposed manufacturing eyeglass frames in the village. Amid fierce opposition from the villagers, the two begin a difficult journey together.
