DanDare5 May 9, 2017Zoom is an indie themed, absurd but multi layered story that mixes animated segments with a story of Emma who works in a factory making sex dolls and has sex with co-worker and boyfriend at lunch. She gets bigger boobs, her boyfriend does not like them. Emma as an artist draws a comic book which contains her perfect man. An action film director with big balls and is also a babe magnet. He has no confidence issues until in a fit of pique Emma reduces the size of his manhood. This affects his movie, that of a Brazilian model who has turned novelist. Eventually all three strands come together as the characters discover that somehow they are all influencing each other leading to a chaotic ending.

A white dropout struggles to become a cartoonist and filmmaker, drawing inspiration from the harsh, gritty world around him. Still sharing his rundown apartment with his middle-aged parents, an oafish slob of an Italian father and a ditzy nutcase of a Jewish mother, he's ridiculed and looked down upon by his friends, hypocrites who run with violent gangs and the Italian Mafia, and a shallow Black girl who makes her living downtown with the pimps and pushers. The cartoonist gets a chance to pitch a film idea to a movie mogul, but the story proves too outrageous: a far-future Earth, depleted by war and pollution, where a mutant antihero challenges and kills God.
