Norman McLaren mixes two short films here. The first "Dots" consists entirely of images on a red background caused by placing an ordinary pen directly onto the 35mm film - most of the images are just dots, or blobs. The second "Loops" does a similar thing, but with the objects this time having a complete, hollow shape - like an heart or a mushroom type of image. It's curious to see what can be achieved - in a random manner - when the pen is applied directly to the film. Apparently, the film-maker performed the sound effects, vocally, too. Worth five minutes as a curiosity, if you get a chance.
