Intermission

"Pull up a seat cover and rest a while."

Set in a women's restroom, "Intermission" is a comedic peek behind closed doors into the overly-busy lives of women. Yearning to get pregnant, Vacationer takes a break in the Bahamas, but as she recounts the jam-packed days of her trip to her supportive friend Love, it's evident she was too busy to even lie down. Talker spins a convoluted rant about being interrupted as Edgewise, her audience, tries to get a word in. Sleepwalker gets more done after midnight than most people do all day. Her friend Relater is sure she empathizes until Interjector throws in her two cents. Though all of the women are not aware of it, they are most busy during moments carved out for rest, all too busy living to have lives.

The King of Staten Island

Scott has been a case of arrested development ever since his firefighter father died when he was seven. He's now reached his mid-20s having achieved little, chasing a dream of becoming a tattoo artist that seems far out of reach. As his ambitious younger sister heads off to college, Scott is still living with his exhausted ER nurse mother and spends his days smoking weed, hanging with the guys — Oscar, Igor and Richie — and secretly hooking up with his childhood friend Kelsey. But when his mother starts dating a loudmouth firefighter named Ray, it sets off a chain of events that will force Scott to grapple with his grief and take his first tentative steps toward moving forward in life.
