Rome, 1er et 2 Novembre 1975

"Rome, 1er et 2 Novembre 1975" was initiated at the Villa Medici and looks back at the final days of the filmmaker and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini, from his last interview to his killing, including a dinner with Giuseppe Pelosi who later accused himself of the murder. The final moments of the film director's life are acted out by twenty-four men and women of different nationalities, all whom are close to the artist. In a shift of focus who embody him, the video also features biographical interviews with each participant. The question once asked to Pasolini about the social and political role of art is echoed in the stories of the actors, in their most prosaic aspects as in their most decisive questioning. By putting them together, the artist creates a mosaic portrait of a community and the daily struggle to overcome social conditioning.

For over 40 years Val Kilmer, one of Hollywood’s most mercurial and/or misunderstood actors has been documenting his own life and craft through film and video. He has amassed thousands of hours of footage, from 16mm home movies made with his brothers, to time spent in iconic roles for blockbuster movies like Top Gun, The Doors, Tombstone, and Batman Forever. This raw, wildly original and unflinching documentary reveals a life lived to extremes and a heart-filled, sometimes hilarious look at what it means to be an artist and a complex man.
