Journey to oblivion

Mervat separates from her fiancé Mahmoud, a novice writer, because he is unable to provide the basics of marriage. Years later, he achieves success as a writer and becomes famous. He meets Hala by chance and feels emotionally attracted to her, but she rejects him. He later learns that she lost her officer husband in the war a few weeks after the marriage, and lives on his memory. He becomes increasingly attached to her and insists that they get engaged.
