Coltan-Fieber: Connecting People
Yves Ndagano began to process his traumatic time as a child soldier in an eponymous play. This film now takes him back to eastern Congo, where he follows the traces of his past and explains the deadly connection between militia conflicts and coltan extraction. Along for the ride, wooden puppet Leopold helps Yves gain the upper hand over his violent past. Since Gockel was not allowed to enter the region, TD Jack Mahamba Muhindo directed the film at Nyiragongo volcano, a site of destruction and coveted raw materials. While time periods are blurred, the messages are clear.
