A story involving a survivor of the 1915 Armenian Genocide.
'Sunrise over Lake Van' is very mundane. It features a couple of nicely shot bits, some solid use of flashbacks and a pleasant end few scenes but the vast majority of this 2011 release is very plain and poorly paced. On paper it's a good story, but in reality it's kinda difficult to keep watching - and that's with it only lasting for around 95 minutes. Not good, unfortunately.

The life of the revered 18th-century Armenian poet and musician Sayat-Nova. Portraying events in the life of the artist from childhood up to his death, the movie addresses in particular his relationships with women, including his muse. The production tells Sayat-Nova's dramatic story by using both his poems and largely still camerawork, creating a work hailed as revolutionary by Mikhail Vartanov.
