After almost five years of WWII, much of the infrastructure of the UK is in ruins and in need of reconstruction. This Ministry of Works sponsored short feature uses some archive and a rather school-masterly narration to try and encourage teenage schoolboys to register for building college or for other similar workplace apprenticeship schemes, so that they can find productive work when leaving school that will help the nation to rebuild. It's a pretty direct appeal to these young lads, promoting the potential of professional qualifications, self respect, team working and a decent wage to help support their families. It is a very dry production, but it does what it says on the tin and after many years of doom and gloom it might have proved quite enticing for those less inclined to acedemia.
