The Culprit is a Korean mystery-thriller that elevates a familiar murder theme with layered conflicts involving friendship, marriage, and betrayal, as Young Hoon searches for truth beyond the police’s assumptions. Through effective use of nonlinear storytelling, suspenseful editing, and convincing performances, the film manipulates viewer expectations and keeps the real killer hidden until a shocking, unexpected reveal. A standout moment is Young Hoon’s chilling reenactment of the crime scene, which deepens the intrigue and highlights the film’s psychological complexity.
