Now the Anubian “Beerus” is like most cats and even if he is the god of destruction he likes a nap! For some reason, though, he has asked his debonair vizier “Whis” to wake him after an wholly insufficient 39 years and so his master is groggy and grumpy. He perks up a little, though, when he learns that “Frieza” has been vanquished by the aspiring young “Goku”. Perplexed that this young Saiyan could defeat someone far superior, he decides to go and find out about the rumours of a Saiyan god - at last a challenge worthy of walking him up for. Where better to start than on the tiny home planet of the Kai King where the young “Goku” was known to be living. Sure enough, there he is, but he’s not really much of a combatant and so the irked god decides he will go to his home planet of Earth and, well, squash it. Luckily for mankind, his arrival coincides with a rather lavish birthday party and both he and “Whis” like a bit of the all-you-can-eat. Meantime, “Goku” has to figure out just how the dragon balls might be able to help. Perhaps the legendary dragon “Shenron” can be summoned and explain - but when he does, it poses quite a quandary for the youngsters who are finding that the lack of pudding cups is really tempting the now bored “Beerus” to just do his worst then go home for some milk and another nice fifty year snooze. Can they figure out the dragon’s clue in time? It did take me a while to get the images of Justin Chatwin and Chow-Yun Fat from 2009 out of my head, but once that was done we are left with an amiably entertaining mix of Japanese and Egyptian mythology that’s spent a decent amount of time on quite a fun script, plenty of vibrant action and lots of sushi! The style of the animation is admittedly very basic, and in many ways has the look of a 1970s cartoon to it, but there are plenty of characterisations here and the story allows for lots of mischief to mix in with the spirit bombs, energy attacks, and interplanetary travel as we build to a dual of momentous proportions. I think the Egyptian pantheon is my favourite, amalgamating as it does animalistic and human behaviour and traits into some superb fodder for animators, and here Masahiro Hosodo let’s his artists tell us a good old story of good v evil that doesn’t really require us to know much about the earlier “Dragon Ball” stories. It also benefits from not concluding in the fashion you might expect. Remember - it’s never a good idea to hog all the puddings!
Earth is peaceful following the Tournament of Power. Realizing that the universes still hold many more strong people yet to see, Goku spends all his days training to reach even greater heights. Then one day, Goku and Vegeta are faced by a Saiyan called 'Broly' who they've never seen before. The Saiyans were supposed to have been almost completely wiped out in the destruction of Planet Vegeta, so what's this one doing on Earth? This encounter between the three Saiyans who have followed completely different destinies turns into a stupendous battle, with even Frieza (back from Hell) getting caught up in the mix.
The Z Warriors discover an unopenable music box and are told to open it with the Dragon Balls. The contents turn out to be a warrior named Tapion who had sealed himself inside along with a monster called Hildegarn. Goku must now perfect a new technique to defeat the evil monster.
Not paying attention to his job, a young demon allows the evil cleansing machine to overflow and explode, turning the young demon into the infamous monster Janemba. Goku and Vegeta make solo attempts to defeat the monster, but realize their only option is fusion.
While vacationing, Koenma is kidnapped by a pair of demons known as Koashura and Garuga, who demand the possession of Lord Enma's coveted "Golden Seal." Botan finds Yusuke Urameshi and Kazuma Kuwabara on their summer vacation as well, and asks for their assistance in Koenma's rescue.
Class 1-A visits Nabu Island where they finally get to do some real hero work. The place is so peaceful that it's more like a vacation... until they're attacked by a villain with an unfathomable Quirk! His power is eerily familiar, and it looks like Shigaraki had a hand in the plan. But with All Might retired and citizens' lives on the line, there's no time for questions. Deku and his friends are the next generation of heroes, and they're the island's only hope.
After defeating Frieza, Goku returns to Earth and goes on a camping trip with Gohan and Krillin. Everything is normal until Cooler - Frieza's brother - sends three henchmen after Goku. A long fight ensues between our heroes and Cooler, in which he transforms into the fourth stage of his evolution and has the edge in the fight... until Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan.
Spring break turns into a summer war when the evil Diaboromon wreaks havoc on the internet, and Tai and Matt must achieve a new Digivolution to defeat him! Will Tai and the Digidestined save the world, and will Sora ever forgive Tai for giving her a hair clip?
A Saiyan Space pod crash-lands on Earth out of which a wounded Saiyan crawls: Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan. The wounded Broly shouts out in frustration and turns into normal form. The place soon freezes, trapping him in it and he falls into a coma.
The countdown to destruction has begun! Gintoki and the others set out to fulfill the wishes of their teacher Shoyo and thwart Utsuro's plans. Shinpachi, Kagura, the Shinsengumi, members of the Kabuki District, and even former enemies will join their fight. As Utsuro's power grows, Takasugi fights for his very life. Will Gintoki be able to put an end to all this?!
After the older DigiDestined are abducted by the mysterious Kokomon, the next generation of kids team up with American DigiDestined Willis to rescue them - only to discover that their enigmatic enemy has an unexpected connection to their new friend!
