In the Wild West Saloon, the Black Gunslinger has just robbed two wretches at cards. Bar singer Kitty helps him with this dark work, but quickly falls out with him over the division of the spoils. In the fight, Kitty takes all the money from Black and would have had a bad time, if the White Avenger didn't come in at the right moment, and defeat the Black villain. White rescues Kitty, but instead of thanks he receives a loud slap from her. Kitty still prefers her Black friend and leaves with him.

A Texas settler and his daughter, Sally, start on a journey in a prairie schooner after bidding farewell to Sally's mother and to Tom, the ranger, who is operating in the neighborhood on a lookout for cattle rustlers and illicit whiskey sellers. 'Spike' Shannon, a pugilist by occupation, signs to fight a 10-round bout, with another young knight of the ring. A contract is drawn and 'Spike' and his backers leave the office of the promoter. On the street they encounter a young couple, evidently at outs, but which proves later, upon the girl's explanation, to be a flirtation, in which she has no desire to take part. The masher has insolently insulted her. 'Spike' takes in the situation at once and with his strong right arm knocks the dude sprawling.
