The magnificent city of Ys in Brittany is protected from flooding by a dike, overseen by the royal family. To seal peace with the city’s former adversary, the King of Ys grants him the hand of his eldest daughter, Margared. But she breaks her vows at the altar, sparking the outbreak of a new war. Devastated to learn that the man she wishes to marry is promised to her own sister, Margared prepares to betray the secrets of the city of Ys to the enemy.

These individuals are the ones allowed to play this sacred music, reinforcing their marginalized status.However, the belief that music is universal, meant to be shared by all, stands in stark contrast to this discriminatory practice. The narrative challenges the ongoing oppression and envisions a future where the drum, and its music, is liberated from caste constraints, accessible to everyone,regardless of their social standing. Maangubigu Parai questions whether this dream of equality and freedom has been realized or if the struggles still persist.

Bob Hope's 2 1/2 hour star-spangled salute to America... "Honor America Day" as aired on July 4, 1970 on WTOP Channel 4 Washington. Billed as a non-partisan, rally around the flag event, it was really an effort to help out his buddy Nixon and prop up sagging poll numbers mostly due to the Vietnam War. As you might expect many people saw through the effort as only war-supporting entertainers were recruited for the event. At some point during the show, supposedly protesters (who can be heard), were hit with tear gas that ended up drifted into the mostly white, evangelical, middle-age conservative audience relaxing on the national lawn.
