The Kastner Trial

This three-part television courtroom drama series is based on one of the most controversial trials in Israel’s history. In 1944 Dr Yisrael Kastner, a member of the committee for the rescue of Hungarian Jewry, succeeded in saving the lives of 1,685 Jews by gaining permission for them to leave Budapest. A decade later he was accused of collaborating with the Nazis and was assassinated. Focusing on the courtroom procedures of 1954–5, as well as on the private lives of the protagonists, and drawing on court proceedings and interviews, the drama deconstructs the narrative of the Holocaust, bringing out issues such as the ineffective policy of the Zionist leadership regarding the Holocaust and the morally ambivalent stance of the survivors.

Belfry Witches

Belfry Witches was a television show broadcast by the BBC during its CBBC slot. It ran for just over a year, airing in September 1999 and running its thirteenth and final episode in November 2000. The show followed two witches, Skirty Marm and Old Noshie as they caused mischief in a quiet English village named Tranter's End, which they fled to after being banished their home on Witch Island. The show revolved around the two witches, the friendly of the church whose belfry they are in, Chris Tucker, the resident "naughty boy", a nasty woman named Mrs. Bagg-Meanly, and the Head Witch who banished Skirty Marm and Old Noshie - Mrs. Abercrombie. The show was called 'Belfry Witches' because the two witches lived in a church belfry. The show was axed due to poor ratings. Sphinx – Secrets of the History

This German format is not a series properly speaking, as it has no permanent cast or script continuity, but presents each time a 45 minutes documentary, usually in part presented as a docudrama (not faction, as close to scientific knowledge as possible, but visually attractive), elaborating a specific historical theme, widely varied, often exotic in the sense of a far time (as far back as prehistoric times) and/or place (around the globe), although some episodes fit together well, chronologically or thematically, but always fit to be watched separately. Usually authentic locations are used, as well as scenes from and/or interviews about the scientific research it is based upon.
