When the Swiss art dealer Yves Bouvier meets the Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev, he quickly rises through the ranks. From a role as a discreet adviser, he becomes a global power broker and manager of Rybolovlev’s investments in one of the world’s most closed and enigmatic markets: the part of the art world where the sums are staggering and the value of artworks is something agreed upon by a narrow elite of connoisseurs and ultrarich tycoons.

Crésus was the French version of the Argentine quiz show El Legado that debuted on commercial station TF1 on July 4, 2005, presented by Vincent Lagaf'. Following a strong summer ratings run, the show was recommissioned, and began its second run in January 2006. Its third and final run ended at the beginning of September 2006. The show's name was derived from a French proverb, to be 'riche comme Crésus'. Croesus was a notoriously wealthy king of Lydia from 561/560 to 547 BC, and participates in the show as a resurrected, computer-generated skeleton that interjects insults and additional knowledge alongside Lagaf'.

Epic in scope, this globe-trotting saga covers not only the entire gamut of wine making, but wine's place in a treacherously globalized world. From the billionaire power brokers of Napa Valley, to the aristocratic rivalries of competing Florentine dynasties, to the efforts of three generations of a Burgundian family fighting to preserve their few acres of land, MONDOVINO: THE SERIES brings to life the human drama (and comedy) of wine making. Shot over several years and in five different languages, the series features intimate encounters with the wine world's most iconic and controversial figures, including the critic Robert Parker, legendary wine mogul Robert Mondavi, zany art collector Jan Schrem, and the noble proprietor of the mythical RomanTe Conti vineyard.
