Record Breakers was a British children's TV show, themed around world records and produced by the BBC and originally presented by Roy Castle with twin brothers Norris McWhirter and Ross McWhirter. The programme was a spin off series from Blue Peter which had featured record breaking attempts overscene by the McWhirter twins. It was broadcast on BBC1 from 15 December 1972 to 21 December 2001. Producers of the series over the years were, Alan Russell, Michael Forte, Eric Rowan, Greg Childs, Annette Williams and Jeremy Daldry. The closing theme was "Dedication", performed by Roy Castle, who broke nine world records on the show himself.

The ABC Comedy Hour is an American television variety series that aired on ABC in 1972. Seven of the 13 episodes featured a guest host and a team of comedy impressionists known as The Kopycats. Guest hosts included Steve Lawrence, Orson Welles, Ed Sullivan, Raymond Burr, Robert Young, Debbie Reynolds and Tony Curtis. The remaining six episodes were variety specials and included two Friars Club roasts and a revival of the musical Hellzapoppin' starring Jack Cassidy. The show originally aired on Wednesday at 8:30 PM. Summer reruns of the seven Kopycats episodes were aired under the title The ABC Comedy Hour Presents the Kopycats. The same episodes aired in Great Britain simply as The Kopycats.

That's Your Funeral was a BBC sitcom from 1971. The show was about a North of England funeral director called Basil Bulstrode. It used numerous urban legends about the funeral industry in its storylines. The show only lasted for one series before being axed. A very similar theme was used far more successfully in the ITV sitcom In Loving Memory.

Musical Chairs is a game show that aired from June 16 to October 31, 1975 on CBS. Singer Adam Wade hosted, making him the first African-American game show host. Wade was pedigreed, having had three Billboard top ten hits in 1961. The series was recorded at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, currently the home of The Late Show with David Letterman tapes and sportscaster Pat Hernon was the announcer. The series aired at 4:00 PM against NBC's Somerset and ABC's Money Maze; it was not successful in the ratings against that competition. Usually appearing on each episode were guest singers and musical groups, among them The Tokens, The Spinners, and Sister Sledge as well as up and coming singers and stars such as Alaina Reed, Kelly Garrett, Jane Olivor, and Irene Cara.

The first theme song was composed by Stan Worth, and the second by Alan Thicke. This show also marked the last national TV appearance of Mama Cass Elliott before her death on July 29, 1974.

Sha Na Na is a syndicated television variety series that ran from 1977 to 1981 for a total of 97 episodes, hosted by the popular rock & roll/comedy group of the same name. Donny York, Jocko Marcellino, and Screamin' Scott Simon of the TV group continue to tour as Sha Na Na. The show featured the group performing hits from the 1950s and 1960s along with comedy skits along the show's nostalgic theme but with a contemporary twist, with performances from that era's well-known acts as well as popular acts of the 1970s. Among the supporting cast members featured in the series were: Jane Dulo and Pamela Myers; Avery Schreiber, Kenneth Mars and Phillp Roth; June Gable and Soupy Sales; Michael Sklar; and Karen Hartman.

Star Gazers is a five-minute astronomy show on American public television previously hosted by Jack Foley Horkheimer, executive director of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium. After his death in 2010 from a respiratory illness from which he'd suffered since childhood, a series of guest astronomers hosted until 2011, when Dean Regas, James Albury and Marlene Hidalgo became permanent co-hosts. On the weekly program, the host informs the viewer of significant astronomical events for the upcoming week, including key constellations, stars and planets, lunar eclipses and conjunctions, as well as historical and scientific information about these events. The program is available free to all Public Broadcasting Service public television stations, educational institutions and astronomy clubs. A month of episodes can be recorded from a satellite feed which occurs approximately two weeks before the official broadcast dates.

The series was produced at NBC's Rockefeller Center in New York City. The program's title is wordplay on the superstition of the same name.
