Mindreaders is an American game show produced by Goodson-Todman Productions which aired on NBC from August 13, 1979 through January 11, 1980. Although NBC originally agreed to a 26-week run, the network canceled Mindreaders after 22 weeks. The host was Dick Martin and the announcer was Johnny Olson. Mindreaders was housed at Studio 4 at NBC in Burbank.

The plot revolves around Mary, a girl sent to spend the summer with her aunt and uncle in a coastal English town while her mother is away in Africa. Feeling alienated, she befriends a young boy who turns out to be the son of an African diplomat who has been kidnapped. The children work together to keep him hidden and safe.

He is assisted (or hampered) by Piet Muis, the rather neurotic mouse who brings in the late bulletins and reads the weather. Haas Das was known for his sense of style: every week he sported a new tie, and as the series became more popular, viewers would send him ties to wear. (His name translates to "Hare Tie"). The newsworthy characters from Diereland ("animal land") included Koning Leeu, king of Diereland; Skillie Skilpad, chairman of the sportsclub; Stinkie Muishond; the meddling, bellyaching Moeder Raaf; wrestling champ Die Gemaskerde Wonder; Grootoom Flapoor, the old elephant in charge of the crèche; and Dokter Karools Krap, the golf-loving, pill-peddling local doctor. Haas Das and Piet Muis were puppet characters, and the news stories were presented in animation. Haas Das se Nuuskas was the first series to be shown on the opening night of SABC TV on 5 January 1976. Soon it became one of South Africa’s most popular programmes, not just among its intended audience, but especially with adults, due to the humour and social and political satire. Indeed, newspaper cartoons often commented on the series' popularity and how even church and political leaders had become engrossed. Haas Das se Nuuskas was created by Louise Smit, who was behind many of South Africa's most beloved children's series such as Wielie Walie, Pieriewierepark, Mina Moo en Kie, Pumpkin Patch and Kideo.

Les 100 tours de Centour was a 1971-1972 French language children's television show made in Quebec by Radio-Québec. Its stories revolved around Verbo, a genie with magical power who was trying to recapture Centour. The show's main purpose was language acquisition, which was conveyed by the way Verbo would do magic: when he needed to perform a trick, he would ask his talisman for a formula He would then close his eyes and repeat, asking the children at home to do the same. Centour on his part would perform magic by reciting similar formulas while shaking his magic wristband. Memo's constant companion was Picot Cotton, a young human male whose family was often the target of Centour's tricks.

The Melting Pot is a British television situation comedy starring Spike Milligan. It was written by Milligan and his regular collaborator Neil Shand. The pilot episode was broadcast only once on BBC1 in June 1976, with a full series recorded the following August but never broadcast. Milligan played Mr. Van Gogh (in brownface) alongside John Bird as Mr. Rembrandt, father and son illegal Asian immigrants who are first seen being rowed ashore in England, having been told that the beach is in fact Piccadilly Circus. They hitch a ride to London in a lorry advertising Italian-made Yorkshire puddings, and find themselves at a boarding house in the fictional Piles Road, London WC2, run by Irish coalman Paddy O'Brien (Frank Carson) and his voluptuous daughter Nefertiti. The rest of the tenants include a black Yorkshireman, a Chinese cockney and a Scottish Arab. The "Melting Pot" of the title refers to the district of London where they have arrived.

Break the Bank is an American game show created by Jack Barry and Dan Enright and produced by their production company Barry & Enright Productions. It was the first game show produced by Barry and Enright as a tandem since their fall from grace following the 1950s quiz show scandals. The ABC Comedy Hour is an American television variety series that aired on ABC in 1972. Seven of the 13 episodes featured a guest host and a team of comedy impressionists known as The Kopycats. Guest hosts included Steve Lawrence, Orson Welles, Ed Sullivan, Raymond Burr, Robert Young, Debbie Reynolds and Tony Curtis. The remaining six episodes were variety specials and included two Friars Club roasts and a revival of the musical Hellzapoppin' starring Jack Cassidy. The show originally aired on Wednesday at 8:30 PM. Summer reruns of the seven Kopycats episodes were aired under the title The ABC Comedy Hour Presents the Kopycats. The same episodes aired in Great Britain simply as The Kopycats.

Time for Timer was the collective title for a short series of public service announcements broadcast on Saturday mornings on the ABC television network starting in the early 1970s. The animated spots featured Timer, a tiny cartoon character who represented the sense of "time" in the human body. Timer was in charge of when a person felt it was time to eat, time to sleep, etc. He carried a large pocket watch inside of him, which would often set off an alarm whenever something was about to happen. Usually wearing a bow tie and top hat, Timer looked somewhat like a little yellow blob with long arms and legs, and a face. Timer also had limited magical powers, such as instant transportation, which he often used to exit his host body from time to time if things got too exhausting. A wise-cracker as well as a song-and-dance man, Timer promoted healthy eating and personal hygiene for children, using clever songs and animation.
