Broadcast on BBC2, General Studies was an educational documentary strand that featured a wide range of films examining scientific discoveries, medical research, social issues, and cultural topics. Produced as independent programs under a shared banner, each episode explored a different subject through interviews, research footage, and expert commentary.

Arrows was a pop television series aimed at the teen market, which aired in 1976 and 1977 in the UK. The show was produced by British TV legend Muriel Young, and ran for two full 14 week series on the ITV network, produced by Granada Television. The Arrows show format was that the band would perform their own songs, and they would introduce the guest artists. There was also a pop dance troupe called Him and Us who were regulars on the series. The Arrows were Alan Merrill, Jake Hooker and Paul Varley. Guests on the Arrows show included such artists as Marc Bolan, The Bay City Rollers, The Drifters, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Peter Noone, Alvin Stardust, Gene Pitney, Slade, Pilot, Billy J. Kramer, The Real Thing, and many more.

In a sequel to the Greek Spirit of Place, Peter Adam takes Lawrence Durrell back to the setting of his four famous novels. The journey starts in Alexandria and follows the Nile to Upper Egypt, to Aswan and Abu Simbel. Durrell revisits the Coptic monasteries of Wadi Natrun, the oasis of Fayum, Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. He talks about his beliefs, his craft and his experiences as a writer, and evokes Egypt's two landscapes - the desert and the great river.

Nanjo Aki is a female investigator at the Tokyo Central Investigative Headquarters of an international secret investigation agency with its headquarters in Paris. Following orders from the Paris headquarters, she secretly investigates major international conspiracies and criminal cases, and is an enforcer of justice who strikes down the roots of these crimes before evil organizations can carry them out. She has two excellent subordinates, and under them is another subordinate who is like a female leopard, and they solve the cases. As soon as she receives orders, Nanjo Aki gathers her subordinates at a secret hideout, draws up a meticulous plan, and executes it.

The Krofft Superstar Hour is a Saturday morning children's variety show, produced by Sid and Marty Krofft. After eight episodes, the show was renamed The Bay City Rollers Show. It aired for one season from September 9, 1978 to November 28, 1979 on NBC.

Star Gazers is a five-minute astronomy show on American public television previously hosted by Jack Foley Horkheimer, executive director of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium. After his death in 2010 from a respiratory illness from which he'd suffered since childhood, a series of guest astronomers hosted until 2011, when Dean Regas, James Albury and Marlene Hidalgo became permanent co-hosts. On the weekly program, the host informs the viewer of significant astronomical events for the upcoming week, including key constellations, stars and planets, lunar eclipses and conjunctions, as well as historical and scientific information about these events. The program is available free to all Public Broadcasting Service public television stations, educational institutions and astronomy clubs. A month of episodes can be recorded from a satellite feed which occurs approximately two weeks before the official broadcast dates.

Wealthy local personality Malcolm Winfield was mugged walking through a park late at night with Ronald Hamilton whom he had met at a club earlier in the evening. Hamilton was unharmed in the attack. The victim's wallet was found later on at the home of Derek Clark and Sharon Cox, tucked inside a record player. Winfield says that Clark and Cox attacked him that evening. Hamilton is also accused of the same crime - the prosecution argue he was a male prostitute who willingly took part in a plan to entice Winfield to the park where his former house-mates could rob him. All the defendants deny the charges. Clark and Cox say this is a case of mistaken identity - they simply found the wallet in the park and were going to hand it in to police the next day; Hamilton says he was forced to assist the others who would have made public his sexuality had he not done so.

He is assisted (or hampered) by Piet Muis, the rather neurotic mouse who brings in the late bulletins and reads the weather. Haas Das was known for his sense of style: every week he sported a new tie, and as the series became more popular, viewers would send him ties to wear. (His name translates to "Hare Tie"). The newsworthy characters from Diereland ("animal land") included Koning Leeu, king of Diereland; Skillie Skilpad, chairman of the sportsclub; Stinkie Muishond; the meddling, bellyaching Moeder Raaf; wrestling champ Die Gemaskerde Wonder; Grootoom Flapoor, the old elephant in charge of the crèche; and Dokter Karools Krap, the golf-loving, pill-peddling local doctor. Haas Das and Piet Muis were puppet characters, and the news stories were presented in animation. Haas Das se Nuuskas was the first series to be shown on the opening night of SABC TV on 5 January 1976. Soon it became one of South Africa’s most popular programmes, not just among its intended audience, but especially with adults, due to the humour and social and political satire. Indeed, newspaper cartoons often commented on the series' popularity and how even church and political leaders had become engrossed. Haas Das se Nuuskas was created by Louise Smit, who was behind many of South Africa's most beloved children's series such as Wielie Walie, Pieriewierepark, Mina Moo en Kie, Pumpkin Patch and Kideo.
