Working the Thames

Punting beer barrels, salvaging cars and piloting container ships, Stephen Frost and Mark Arden lead us on a journey down one of the world's greatest working waterways. Along the way they explore the continuities between the working Thames of the past and the river today. This enforced intimacy with the river unveils some surprising stories; revealing an industrial river that survives behind the picture postcard image of the Thames. Starting from a small hollow in a field in Gloucestershire, and ending in the blustery expanse of the English Channel, each episode exposes the working life of the river Thames in all it's grit and grime. Steve and Mark's hands-on approach to the river shapes their interaction with everyone they meet along the way. At the heart of each episode is a river related task that they can only complete by enlisting the help of the port pilots, lock keepers, dredgers and ferrymen they bump into.

John Henson Project

The John Henson Project was an American reality television series that explores the world through the eyes of host John Henson. The series was shown on Spike TV in 2004. The intent of the show was to create a half hour variety-type program that would highlight news, entertainment and sports from a "guy"'s perspective, punctuated by Henson's sardonic sense of humor. The show would feature regular segments like "Cruise the News", "Guys and Balls" and "Man of the Week". More bizarre features were "Could I Kick His Ass?", where Henson would handicap himself, Vegas-style, in theoretical fights with celebrities and reenactments of famous sports tirades performed by grade school aged children.

The duo traveled around America, sampling local music and cuisine. In the opening episode they visited Atlanta, Georgia and visit places like Gladys Knight & Ron Winans' Chicken & Waffles, a soul food restaurant, and the Varsity, America's largest drive-in restaurant. New York Post reviewer Adam Buckman described the show as "a heaping helping of cutie-pie", and "[s]omewhere between spicy and bland". Barbara Hooks of The Age commented that the show "draws a long bow, cutting awkwardly from Dweezil playing charity golf in Chicago to Lisa on a confectionary crawl of the windy city."

Barely Famous

Introducing "Barely Famous": a docu-style comedy series created, executive produced by and starring actresses Erin and Sara Foster, daughters of Grammy winning Producer, David Foster. This show explores the hypocrisy of reality TV by centering around two sisters (Erin and Sara Foster) who say they would never do a reality show, but are being filmed by a camera crew. Over the course of the season, we’ll follow Erin and Sara as they navigate the treacherous LA waters of building a career, dating, and simultaneously trying to prove that they’re “normal”. Each episode of Barely Famous will skewer Hollywood stereotypes and comment on the world of celebrity through the eyes of two D-Listers, desperately trying to insist they don’t care about “Lists” while also trying to get on the A-List. By breaking the 4th wall and occasionally telling both the crew and network to cut, no reality convention is too sacred, and our girls point out the absurdity of the medium itself.

Who's Teaching Whom?

Who's Teaching Whom was the third in a string of successful Prime Time shows by master genre impressionists Scott Chernoff and Andy Goldblatt. This Punky Brewster homage delighted audiences with its eerily faithful recreation of a more innocent if also more retarded time in television. The production value seemed to get higher and higher with each episode until finally, Carly and the Professor jumped the shark while doing an impression of jumping a shark, moving to Hollywood in the fourth episode, then getting cancelled.

The Best of Frankie Howerd

Frankie Howerd became one of the nation's best-loved comics as a result of a roller-coaster career with many sharp turns, exhilarating highs and sudden dizzying drops. As early as his first television series, The Howerd Crowd, in 1952, he had developed the act that would last the rest of his career: rolled eyes, asides to the audience, the sudden switch to a high-pitched voice and exaggerated "ooohs" and "aaahs". Howerd's famous catchphrases have become part of the national vocabulary ("Ooh er missus!", "Titter ye not", "Oooh no!") and his cosy but risque rapport with the audience in stand-up, cabaret and sit-com is often emulated but never surpassed. This compilation draws together the very finest Howerd moments from his numerous stand-up and sketch shows (Nuts in May, An Evening with Francis Howerd, Howerd’s History of England) as well as classic moments from the Carry On inspired sit-com Up Pompeii!

Pagans

We see pagan worship through the prism of generations of modern religious thought. Through history and prehistory, the representations of the ancient gods and traditions followed by pagans have been marred by propaganda from other religious groups eager to rein in those they defined as `wild barbarians`. In truth, the word pagan is a Roman term meaning `country folk`, and the general concept of paganism is of oneness with nature and a quest to fully understand the world around us.

Wanna Come In?

Wanna Come In? is an MTV reality television show. It is a modern reality twist on the legendary play Cyrano de Bergerac. In the show, a two man team that consists of a "stud" and a "dud" compete with another "stud"/"dud" duo to try to win cash prizes. The "stud" secretly coaches the "dud" by speaking through a hidden microphone while the "dud" is on a blind date with a beautiful young woman. Each team goes through several challenges in an effort to get the "geek" invited inside the woman's home at the end of the date. If she does not invite her "dud" inside, the team loses. Wanna Come In? was on the air for three seasons on MTV. It was a half hour show that aired daily in the afternoons. The challenges usually had the "geeks" doing zany things that would make it almost impossible for the date to end well. If the "geeks" ask to come in at the end of the date or reveal that he is being coached, the "geek/stud" duo are disqualified.
