The series owes tribute to the book which it is based on: The Romantic Movement by Alain de Botton. The series cohesively tells the story of a girl named Hyo Rin (Min Hyorin), a girl constantly plagued by love. After losing someone close to her heart, she must learn to love again. The first installment is titled My Bloody Valentine, the second is My Sweet Blanket, and the third, The Tarot Players. Other characters who frequently appear on the show include Yeo Wook Hwan (Ja Myung Go), Sohn Byung Wook (Private Eye), Defconn, a hip hop artist starring himself, and Jung Jun II from Mate, the rock band. Sim Deok-Su (Yang Taek-Jo) is the owner of a large apartment complex. Although he sometimes berates his tenants, he also cares about their well being. One day, Sim Deok-Su enters the apartment of a tenant who is late on his rent. Sim Deok-Su finds the tenant dead and hanging from a noose tied around his neck. The other tenants believe the tenant killed himself after being hounded by Sim Deok-Su. Sim Deok-Su then meets former detective Park Pyeong-Dal (Kim Jin-Tae). Park Pyeong-Dal tells Sim Deok-Su that the death of his tenant was not by suicide, but in fact a murder by a serial killer. The serial killer operated in the neighborhood thirty years ago.

Yeo Jin and Gi Rim were inseparable best friends in high school, dreaming of becoming successful writers. However, cracks in their friendship began to appear with the appearance of Baek Jong Hak, who seemed to lean towards Yeo Jin. Years later, Gi Rim is still struggling to get herself published, and her financial problems are wearing her down. When she finally scores an interview with a publisher, she goes to the interview with enthusiasm, but is shocked to meet Yeo Jin and Jong Hak, the two people she did not want to see again. Their sudden meeting brings back a rush of both beautiful and unwelcome memories.

After her husband ends up in a vegetative state as a result of a car crash, Jisu found little reason to live. A married couple move back to their old building, where their hateful and intolerant neighbors still reside.
