Curiosity Shop is an American children's educational television program produced by ABC-TV in 1971, capitalizing on the success of Sesame Street. Sponsored by the Kellogg's cereal company, Curiosity Shop was broadcast Saturday mornings from September 11, 1971, to January 6, 1973. The program featured three inquisitive children who each week visited a shop populated with various puppets and gadgets, discovering interesting things about science, nature and history. Each hour-long show covered a specific theme: clothing, music, dance, weather, the five senses, space, time, rules, flight, dolls, etc.

Once Upon a Classic was an American television program hosted by Bill Bixby, at the time of The Incredible Hulk fame. The program aired on PBS from 1976 to 1980 as a production of WQED in Pittsburgh. The episodes consisted of adaptations of such classic literature as "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" and Leatherstocking Tales; some of these adaptations were produced by other broadcasters such as the BBC and ITV in the United Kingdom. In a sense, it was a children's counterpart to Masterpiece Theatre, and a sort-of ancestor to Long Ago and Far Away a decade later.

Don't Ask Me was a popular British television science show made by Yorkshire Television for the ITV network and ran from 1974 to 1978. It attempted to answer science-based questions and contributors included Magnus Pyke, Rob Buckman, David Bellamy, Miriam Stoppard, and Derek Griffiths. Those behind the scenes included Adam Hart-Davis, who later became a well-known science presenter in his own right. The theme music was "House of the King" by the contemporary Dutch fusion band Focus. A follow up called Don't Just Sit There ran for 19 episodes from 1979 to 1980. It was also produced for Yorkshire TV and featured the same panel.

Young Talent Time, is an Australian television variety program screened on Network Ten. The original series ran from 1971 until 1988 and was hosted by musician Johnny Young. The show was revived by Network Ten in 2012 and is hosted by musician and actor Rob Mills. The series features a core group of young performers, in the vein of The Mickey Mouse Club, and a weekly junior talent quest. The "Young Talent Team" perform popular classic songs along with the top hit songs of the day. The original program launched the careers of a number of Australian performers including Jamie Redfern, Tina Arena and Dannii Minogue and spawned numerous hit singles, fifteen Young Talent Time albums, a film, swap cards, boardgames, toys, and numerous Logie Awards. The first episode of the original series aired on Channel 0 in Melbourne at 7.00pm on Saturday 24 April 1971. The final episode aired on Network Ten at 7.30pm on Friday 23 December 1988.
