The Stationary Ark was a documentary television miniseries hosted by zoologist Gerald Durrell on location at his Jersey Zoological Park in the United Kingdom. It was based on his 1976 book of the same name. The series was produced by Canadian company Nielsen-Ferns and aired from September to December 1975 on CBC Television and TVOntario. Ark on the Move, a follow-up TV series, was also hosted by Gerald Durrell.

Alvin Purple was an Australian television situation comedy series made by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in 1976. The series followed continued adventures of the title character, previously featured in successful sex comedy feature films Alvin Purple and Alvin Purple Rides Again. Graeme Blundell reprises the role of Alvin in the series. Alvin cohabitates with a new character, flatmate Spike. As in the films various women inexplicably lust after Alvin. The women were played by a stream of recognisable Australian actors in guest starring roles including Tina Bursill, Jackie Weaver, Belinda Giblin, June Rich, Jane Harders, Pamela Gibbons, Kirrily Nolan, Peta Peita, Judy Lynne, Suzanne Church, Carla Hoogeveen, Chantal Contouri, Anya Saleky. Dawn Lake and Leonard Teale also acted in the series.

Takeshi Osawa (Ken Utsui), an assistant professor of piano at a music college, is remarrying his first love, the widowed Yumiko Tashiro (Kayo Matsuo). Yumiko's son, Toshio, is a young man whose piano playing Takeshi heard and recognized as talented. However, upon learning that Takeshi was a rival of his biological father, Seiji Tashiro (Ken Ogata), who is said to have committed suicide, Toshio becomes violently opposed to Yumiko. Takeshi is troubled by Toshio's attitude, but with the encouragement of his younger brother, Minoru, a conductor, he succeeds in teaching him traditional piano, and Toshio ends up studying at the music college. An unconventional figure at the university, Toshio approaches Hanae Miyajima, the granddaughter of the university president.
