Royal Cousins at War

At the time World War I broke out, the King of England, the Czar of Russia, and the Kaiser of Germany were first cousins. This two-part series looks at the role played by Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany and King George V of England, and their relationships with each other, in the outbreak of war. Mismanaging their countries and mishandling foreign policy, they failed to adapt to the forces of nationalism and democracy, and so brought tumbling down their own ideal of a Europe governed by the descendants of Queen Victoria. While it was war that delivered the final blow, this fascinating series shows how the problems had set in much earlier. A two part miniseries.

Alles muss raus

The drugstore chain "Faber" is facing closure: company boss Max Faber has lost so much money through stock speculation that planned insolvency seems to him to be the only sensible way out. The jobs of all employees are at stake, but the chain's founder cares as little about this as he does about the modernization proposals of his own daughter Kerstin, who has always played second fiddle in the company empire. Fate brings Kerstin and Janine, one of the sales assistants in a branch, together, and together they take action against the redundancies and exploitative measures of Max Faber. But the highly explosive power struggle between father and daughter is far from over.

Henry and Anne: The Lovers Who Changed History

Historian Dr Suzannah Lipscomb unfolds the extraordinary story of the tumultuous love affair between Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, and asks: was it really love that brought them together – and was it love that tore them apart? Suzannah's journey will take her from Anne's childhood home at Hever Castle in Kent to the French palace where, some say, she learned the art of love. She will also visit Hampton Court, where Henry built the Great Hall for his new queen, and the Tower of London, where he had her beheaded.
