A one-episode television pilot for a proposed 1981 spin-off of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It features former series regulars Sarah Jane Smith, an investigative journalist played by Elisabeth Sladen, and K9, a robotic dog voiced by John Leeson. Both characters had been companions of the Fourth Doctor but they had not appeared together before. The single episode, A Girl's Best Friend was broadcast by BBC1 as a Christmas special on 28 December 1981 but was not taken up for a continuing series.

Herbie the Matchmaker, also known as Herbie, The Love Bug, is a short-lived situation comedy that aired on CBS in the spring of 1982. The series is based on Walt Disney Productions' popular Herbie film series, about a Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own. It was cancelled after five episodes and, for the next fifteen years, would mark Herbie's last new appearance in either television or film; Herbie would next return to television in the 1997 film The Love Bug.

Eventually, the three families faced eviction but became close friends after going through ups and downs together. The three families helped the ghosts reincarnate, and they tearfully said goodbye at a banquet.

Based on the novel by Martin Boyd (1946) this miniseries tells the story of many generations of a family who migrate from England to Australia and eventually back to England, suffering poverty and becoming social climbers.
