Hwasin – Controller of the Heart

Hwasin – Controller of the Heart is a South Korean talk show which began airing on February 19, 2013 on Tuesday nights at 11:15 pm KST on SBS. It is hosted by comedian Shin Dong-yup, actress Kim Hee-sun, and singer Yoon Jong-shin. Hwasin has several meanings, including God of Tuesday and God of Talk, as well as Shin Dong-yup and Yoon Jong-shin's Shin, and Goddess Kim Hee-sun. The program was referred to as the second season of Strong Heart, but with a different format focused on exploring lifestyle differences between generations through surveys to viewers. On May 1, 2013, it was announced that comedian Kim Gu-ra would join the program as new host, marking his return to SBS since his sudden departure from television in April 2012. The programs format will also be changed, abandoning the viewer surveys and focusing on people instead. The first episode to air with new host, Kim Gu-ra, and a new format will air May 14, 2013. On May 9, 2013, it was announced that Yoon Jong-shin will be leaving the show due to schedule and health issues. He will be replaced by actor Bong Tae-gyu, who will be a guest on the May 14th episode, and officially as new host airing May 21, 2013. After a seven month run, Hwasin has officially been cancelled due to low ratings with the last episode airing on October 1, 2013 and will be replaced by reality program Beating Heart.

Sun-Joo (Ryoo Hyoun-Kyoung) wants to go to Mt. Jiri with her boyfriend Kyoung-Woon (Heo Jeong-Min), but because of Kyoung-Woon she can't go. Sun-Joo is disappointed and drinks alcohol. At that time, she happens to meet writer Joon-Ki (Jung Eun-Woo). Sun-Joo is attracted to Joon-Ki. They kiss on the first day they meet. After the kiss, Joon-Ki suggests that they go see the morning sea together. Sun-Joo accepts, but when gets to the car she finds Joon-Ki's friend Dong-Soo (Lee Joo-Seung) in the car. Sun-Joo wants to go back to Seoul, but they go to see Joon-Ki's friend in Gangneung. To get away from them, Sun-Joo contacts her friend Myoung-Hee (Song Min-Ji) who lives also in Gangneung. Sun-Joo finally gets to Myoung-Hee’s house, but Sun-Joo doesn't know there is a monster more strange than anyone else in Myoung-Hee's home.

Kim Myeong-Je (Lee Chun-Hee) is a college student, nicknamed Toad because of his pimples. He meets Han Seo-Yeong (Kang Ye-Sol) at the library and falls in love with her at first sight. He soon joins the singing club to get closer to her, but Han Seo-Yeong has feelings for Seo Jeong-Wu (Kim Jung-San). After being rebuffed by Han Seo-Yeong twice, he is soon drafted into the army. Baek Jang-Mi (Choi Yoon-Young) is a college student at the same university and a member of the singing club. She also has a crush on Seo Jeong-Wu, but she sees Han Seo-Yeong getting closer to him. Because of her ultra-strict mother, Baek Jang-Mi's hopes of romance with Seo Jeong-Wu soon ends. 6 years later, Kim Myeong-Je and Baek Jang-Mi meet again at a bank.

Kyung-Do was actually hired by Sun-Woo to play her father. After her parents divorced, she has become estranged from her father. Sun-Woo paid 200,000 won to Kyung-Do for his appearance. During the class, Kyung-Do makes a mistake and his identity is revealed. They soon become hostile to each other. Sun-Woo forms a family with runaway teenagers who have similar backgrounds.
