Magical Hat is an anime series by Studio Pierrot. The 33 episode series aired on Fuji Television from October 18, 1989 to July 6, 1990. The series stars Hat, the descendant of a hero who fought an evil king and sealed Devildom. Hat falls into Devildom and finds he has to defeat the evil king. The Sega Mega Drive game Magical Hat no Buttobi Tabo! Daibōken is based on this series; in Western regions the game uses different characters and is named Decap Attack.

Shi Xiaoqun accidentally obtained the "Wordless Book of Heaven", a martial arts manual. The various evil sects fought over it, and was all poisoned by false copies created by Prefect Guo Wenqin. To obtain the antidote, they were forced to surrender their martial arts and correct their evil ways. These various martial arts was compiled into another martial arts manual - "Worded Book of Heaven" by Wenqin, and given to Ku'er to master it to do good. Unexpectedly, Huangfu Hui used Ku'er to avenge herself, and even set up a demon cult to kill innocent people indiscriminately. Xiaoqun mastered the martial arts in the "Wordless Book of Heaven" to stop the two from continuing to do evil.

Honeybee Hutch (みなしごハッチ, Minashigo Hatchi, lit. Hutch the Orphan) is a 1989 remake of the 1971 classic anime series The Adventures of Hutch the Honeybee. The show follows the original series' main storyline, and tells the adventure of a young bee who searches for his missing queen bee mother. The story follows Yonemura Hiroko, a bank clerk reeling from the betrayal of her lover, who is engaged to another woman. After a public outburst, Hiroko’s senior Tsuchiya Taeko steps in at the request of the branch manager, first by taking her to dinner and offering her to transfer to the better branch, and later by involving her in a new acquaintance whom they accidentally met in a peculiar way. That acquaintance turns out to be Sekimoto Shinsaku, a former professional baseball player struggling with his past and lack of confidence. Together, Hiroko, Tsuchiya, and Sekimoto invest in revamping a failing coffee shop called “River”, transforming it into "Terrace". As they struggle through setbacks and rebuild the shop, each of them slowly overcomes their emotional scars while pursuing their dream.

Fubuki is a young female teacher in a girl's college. Being quite new, she's unexperienced in many ways, eg. advising students on love problems. However, she gets to know three male teachers from a nearby boy's college one day, and these three people are playing as crazily as their students. They go after girls, ... and behave very differently from what a teacher should behave. Though as such, they're in fact good teachers, who always stand by their students, and help them out in every way they can. Hello Kitty and Friends, also known as Sanrio World Masterpiece Cinema Series in Japan, is a series of Japanese direct-to-video animations starring Hello Kitty, Mimmy, and other Sanrio characters. The original Japanese OVAs were produced from 1989 all the way up to 1998. Out of the 80 OVAs produced, only 30 were dubbed into English and compiled into a TV series. This anime aired on Toon Disney in the United States and on YTV in Canada. 13 OVAs with Hello Kitty, 10 with Keroppi, 4 with Pekkle, 2 with Pochacco and only 1 with Patty and Jimmy were dubbed into English. Two similar shows, Hello Kitty's Paradise and Hello Kitty's Animation Theater, as well as Growing Up With Hello Kitty, would follow this series between the mid 1990s and the early 2000s.

Time Travel Tondekeman is an anime series directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and Akira Sugino. It was written by Junki Takegami and produced by Animax network president Masao Takiyama. It was originally broadcast by Fuji Television in Japan between 19 October 1989 and 26 August 1990. Time Quest, as it was called outside Japan, was first aired in the Philippines in 1994 by IBC-13. It was rerun in ABC-5 in 1999. It also was aired in Indosiar, Indonesia during 1995, and it was rerun in Space Toon Indonesia since the year 2008.
